Torch Indy Weekend Report: Aries & Strong retain tag titles, Dragon over Rave, Claudio & Hero win Chikara tourney

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO BOOKMARK US & VISIT US DAILY

By Chris Vetter, Torch Contributor

Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the Midwest. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

WEEKEND RESULTS, NEWS & NOTES

Bryan Danielson retained his title at the Ring of Honor fourth-anniversary show in Edison, N.J., on Saturday, defeating Jimmy Rave. Roderick Strong & Austin Aries retained their tag titles in the main event. There is a good review of the show already posted on the main Torch page, and I’ve posted those results below.

Before Aries headed to New Jersey, he competed his swing back through the Midwest with a show Friday night at a casino in northern Wisconsin. I skipped that show, but I’ve posted results below.

Chris Hero & Claudio Castognoli won the Chikara Pro Tag World Grand Prix tournament over the weekend, winning five matches. The tournament comprised of 32 teams and it lasted three days. A few surprise entrants included Delirious and Necro Butcher.

I attended the Neo Pro Wrestling show south of Minneapolis on Saturday, and those results are below. The crowd was legitimately 160 paid, and it’s exciting to see the crowds are finally starting to grow again. This was a good show. Ken Kennedy and Molly Holly attended the show. Kennedy told me he still won’t be back in the ring until June. He was greeted with a great pop, and he looked & acted like a star as he told the crowd how great it was to be back.

(By the way, that was already my ninth indy wrestling show of the year!)

In news on future shows…

Milwaukee-based MAW will hold a ‘Johnny Grunge charity show’ this Saturday, with all proceeds going to Grunge’s family. Check out www.midamericanwrestling.com for more details. (This show is in addition to their already-announced show for this Friday.)

And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
