Men turn their girlfriends' teenage dreams into nightmares by transforming into their favorite 90s crushes including Usher, Justin Timberlake and Freddie Prinze Jr

A group of men attempted to fulfill their girlfriend's teenage fantasies by stepping into the shoes - and the over-gelled hair - of the women's favorite 90s heartthrobs. 

In a video for Cosmopolitan.com six men were transformed into various actors and singers - the same guys that their girlfriends dreamed of almost two decades earlier.

The clip shows the women and their boyfriends being equally shocked and amused by the 90s makeovers, though not all of the girlfriends are as in love with the real version of their former heartthrobs.

First up: Justin Timberlake. Cory's girlfriend Madeline had teenage dreams about both boy band member Justin and Titanic actor Leonardo DiCaprio - before he was an Oscar-winning movie star.

Cory gets into character as Timberlake, busting out his dance moves and a chorus of Bye, Bye, Bye. It’s a childhood dream come true and Cory offers to stay in costume for a while.

Cory's turn as Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t make the video cut, but a photo on Cosmopolitan.com proves that Cory is definitely stronger as Justin.

As for another woman named Janet, her boyfriend Andrew is morphed into Jonathan Taylor Thomas. 

‘I feel like Jonathan Taylor Thomas was the celeb I wanted to look like when I was like 13 or 14,’ says Andrew, who doesn’t look totally unlike the 90s ‘Home Improvement’ star.

Upon seeing him, girlfriend Janet actually approves. ‘Yeah, you look like, uh, short-haired Jonathan Taylor Thomas.’

But not all were so successful. Lauren’s boyfriend Ben flops as a new age Andrew Keegan, despite the fact that she exclaims: ‘I’m willing to go 100 per cent Andrew Keegan today,’ as he’s getting his new look.

Upon turning around and seeing the makeover, girlfriend Lauren reacts: ‘Oh my god, stop. I don’t know if this is what I envisioned … You have to go change now.’

Ben, equally horrified, agrees: ‘I’d like to change as soon as possible.’

Next up are Cam and Alana, whose favorite 90s heartthrob was R&B singer Usher.

‘I think she’s gonna be really turned on,' Cam says confidently of the new look, which was modeled straight off a Tiger Beat poster.

Lucky for him, Alana is indeed impressed. ‘Ooh you look so good,’ she gushes upon seeing her boyfriend in a pair white American Apparel sweatpants and no shirt. ‘Yeah, I think you look much better than Usher, baby.’

As for another participant, Julia, she wants her fiancé Mark to resemble the Beverly Hills, 90210 star Luke Perry - who she thinks is a perfect match to her man's personality. 

'In social situations, Mark is the strong, silent type, just like Dylan McKay [Luke Perry's character on Beverly Hills],' she says. 'He'll warm up when he's comfortable, but he has this sort of stone-cold confidence with his serious expressions that remind me of Perry's moody, bad-boy thing.'

After Mark is done up in a dark red shirt and white tee and snapped in a Luke Perry pose, Julie is blown away by the result.

‘Holy God! Oh my God!’ she exclaims upon seeing the lookalike.

‘I like the hair… Can this hang in the bedroom when we get married?' she says of the poster of Mark showing him looking almost identical to his outfit's inspiration. 

She's All That star Freddie Prinze Jr. is the eye candy of choice for Stephanie's boyfriend Stas' transformation.

‘Aww,’ she says of his look. ‘I feel like in the 90s gel was really popular.’

As a part of the feature, Cosmo also shared shopping info on the garments used to create the looks with the costs of the various outfits revealing that some of the makeovers cost up to $200.
