Sam Smith can't wipe the smile from his face as he's serenaded by drag queen while celebrating Oscar win in gay bar... before announcing his social media hiatus

He was riding high after taking home the Oscar for Best Song at the 2016 Academy Awards.

And Sam Smith chose to celebrate his win with some of the world's most flamboyant drag queens at legendary gay bar The Abbey in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

The 23-year-old singer reportedly knocked back cups of Grey Goose vodka as he partied the night away with his pals at the nightspot - where he was even serenaded by one of the extravagant performers.

The Stay With Me hit-maker couldn't wipe the smile from his face as he was approached by one of the acts, who proceeded to bury Sam's had in their chest, before caressing his face, while singing along to This Boy Is A Bottom.

The British singer reportedly stayed for the Lip Service show until the early hours of the morning, with the songwriter calling it a night just before 1.30am when last orders were being called.

'Sam was in high spirits. He high-fived and shook hands of fans congratulating him on his win,' a party-goer told DailyMail.com.

And it seemed as though Sam had a good night, as he tweeted the following morning: 'So hungover. genuinely feels like a dream'.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday Sam revealed that he was temporarily quitting Twitter, just a day after he engaged in a social media spat with Dustin Lance Black over his Oscars speech.

'I'm logging off for a while. Some Martinis shaken not stirred are definitely in order.' he wrote on the social network.

His Twitter hiatus came shortly after Sam appeared to feud with screenwriter Dustin, 41, who is engaged to Olympic diver Tom Daley, 21.

Shutting down Sam's claim that he was the first openly gay man to receive an Oscar, Dustin - who received the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2009 for Milk - ranted: ''Hey @SamSmithWorld, if you have no idea who I am, it may be time to stop texting my fiancé.'

Responding to the meltdown on social media, Sam added: 'Second openly gay man to win an oscar or third or fourth or 100th, It wasn't my point.'

'My point was to shine some light on the LGBT community who i love so dearly.'

He continued: 'Apologies for the mix up @DustinLanceBlack I'll be sure to check out your films now x Belated Congrats on the Oscar x'.
