The sentence - which was handed down for multiple counts of fraud - starts March 23 but comes with an even bigger penalty, as Joe faces deportation.

While he has spent his entire life in America, the Real Housewives Of New Jersey star never became a citizen.

When asked about the prospect being sent to Italy, Joe tensed up, saying: 'There is a chance anything can happen, you know? There is nothing in life that is certain. We will deal with it when I get out.'

Something he wants to happen sooner than his 41 months: 'I just want to get out as quickly as I can and do whatever I can to get out of there.'

Wife Teresa was able to get out early, serving 11 months of a 15-month sentence.

The couple are serving their sentences at different times so that someone can be around to look after their children - Gia, 15, Gabriella, 11, Milania, 10, and Audriana, 6.

The girls are completely aware of what is going on as there would be no way too shelter them from the truth, the reality star said.

'I haven't stopped drinking in I don't know how long, so I could definitely use it just for that, you know?' [It's] probably going to be a good thing for me, health wise anyway.'
