Kym Marsh rules out Celebrity Big Brother appearance as she commits to Coronation Street

With Celebrity Big Brother starting next week, no stone is left unturned in the hunt for contestants who have signed up for the show.

And today it appeared that Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh would be injecting a splash of glamour into what is to be the very last show of the reality series.

The 33-year-old actress, who plays Michelle Connor in the soap, seemed to have let on to her Twitter followers that she would be spending the new year in the house.

Staying out of the house: Kym Marsh will not be appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, which begins this weekend, and will instead be filming scenes for Coronation Street

However, a spokeswoman for the ITV soap this afternoon insisted the mum-of-two would be fulfilling her filming schedule on Corrie.

She told the Mail Online: 'There is no truth in it at all. Kym will be back filming with us the first week in January.'

And it emerged that the Twitter account which hosted messages apparently from the ex-Hear'Say singer was a fake.

On it, she appeared to drop heavy hints that she would be on the show, and that her wrist had been slapped for revealing details.

The tweet said: 'Finished Corrie for a couple of weeks, now off to get myself a 'reality' check.'

Moments later the tweet had disappeared, followed by a message which read: 'Just been told off! Feel like I had been sent to the head masters office!'

But the Corrie spokeswoman confirmed the actress does not have a Twitter account.

She said: 'It's completely wrong. She doesn't even have a Twitter or Facebook account. She doesn't use any of those accounts at all. They are all fake.'

The row over the Twitter page blew up as contestants are under strict terms and cannot tell anyone they're appearing on the show.

However some details of contestants are already known.

Stars lined up for the programme include Pamela Anderson, Alex Reid, MC Hammer, page 3 girl Nicola T and former Hollywood vice madam Heidi Fleiss.

However, Boy George and Kerry Katona will not be in the house. He was refused leave by a judge to alter his curfew conditions and she is believed to have failed a psychological test.

Nor will astrologer Russell Grant be appearing on the show, as the 58-year-old is worried he could suffer an allergic reaction in the house, or possibly even die.

The stargazer suffers from asthma and turned down an offer of £250,000 from Channel 4 to appear on the show.

Russell is allergic to air-conditioning, so would not be able to spend any time in the house.

He explained to the Daily Star: 'I told them I couldn't do it because I was allergic to air-conditioning. They said they'd build me a Wendy house. Talk about carry on camping! I'd freeze to death in there in January.'
