She's been hard at work shooting her new film Collateral Beauty in New York City.

But Dame Helen Mirren is clearly loving every minute shooting the dramatic comedy, brimming with joy as she prepared for a busy day of filming on Thursday.

The 70-year-old veteran actress had a spring in her step as she bounded onto the set in Downtown Manhattan, clad in a vibrant and youthful ensemble.

Helen defied the years in her Scot-meets-schoolgirl attire, sporting a grey checked kilt, bright red tights and a matching cardigan.

The Oscar-winning star added a pair of black leather ankle boots and a fur-lined beige coat to keep warm.

The age-defying beauty topped of the quirky outfit with a red beret, placed jauntily on her head.

Helen displayed her best jazz hands move as she skipped onto the set, eager to knuckle down for the day.

Collateral Beauty also stars Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet, Will Smith, Naomie Harris and Edward Norton.

The dramatic comedy tells the story of an advertising executive, played by Smith, who falls into a deep depression following a personal tragedy.

Helen plays an actress hired by his colleagues as part of a plan to break him out of his dark spell.

Collateral Beauty is directed by David Frankel, who made Marley & Me and The Devil Wears Prada from a script by Alan Loeb, whose credits include 21, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Rock Of Ages.

It's the first time that Hollywood heavyweights, Helen and Will have made a movie together.
