NEW Which? said that households could save up to £400 a year if they were to switch to the cheapest dual fuel deal on the market, while those on gas-only tariffs, could save up to £260. British Gas was the last big provider to announce a 5.1 per cent cut in its gas price, which has come into effect this week. It follows similar moves by market-dominating firms EDF Energy, Eon, npower, SSE and ScottishPower in response to a big slump in wholesale prices.

MONEY NEWS & ADVICE
Supercars that wooed the world: British-made vehicles from McLaren, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Aston Martin leading the way at the Geneva Motor Show
British luxury car makers - or, more precisely, luxury car brands made in the UK, as many are foreign owned - have never had it so good. In 2010, 37 per cent of cars made in the UK were premium brands, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). This has risen to 46.6 per cent in 2015 and is forecast to rise to 54 per cent by 2020.
Modern life is NOT rubbish, says Warren Buffett, as his shareholder letter reveals the secret sauce for prosperity
'It's an election year, and candidates can't stop speaking about our country's problems (which, of course, only they can solve),' wrote Buffett. His response was an ode to our good fortune that is about as far as you can get from the 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore' posturing of populist politics.
RIP cash Isas (1999-2016): The much-loved tax-free accounts killed by George Osborne's savings revolution
Our investigation exposes how George Osborne's savings tax revolution has destroyed the cash Isa. In the past year the big banks have slashed Isa rates by up to 40% for new savers as the deals have lost their marketing appeal. Rates have crashed to lower than on taxable fixed-rate bonds and easy-access accounts. So is an Isa still worth it?
Ikano offers some of the best savings rates around but can you trust the bank that IKEA built? We run the rule over ten UK challenger banks...
Unfamiliar banks are grabbing savers' attention by offering better rates than the more traditional High Street names. But it's important to do your own research before you sign up. In most cases, your money is covered by the UK Financial Services Financial Compensation Scheme up to £75,000 (£150,000 for joint accounts) if the bank goes bust.
Why the small print for your retirement home could cost you £20k: Housing firms sting thousands with hidden fees
Every year thousands of elderly people, who move to retirement flats because they are easier to maintain than a three or four-bedroom family home, are preyed on by profit-hungry firms. When Andrew Couldrake (pictured) put his late mother's retirement bungalow on the market last year he received a shock bill from the company that managed the property demanding £24,000.
ASK TONY: HMRC keeps slicing away bits of my pension claiming I owe them thousands in underpaid tax
I am a 77-year-old widow and I'm at my wits' end over HMRC's continuing demands for several thousand pounds of allegedly underpaid tax. I worked as a teacher for more than 40 years before retiring in July 2003. HMRC is deducting this money from my monthly private pension statements, having initially demanded it as a lump sum.
How the home loan price war can clear your mortgage FOUR YEARS earlier: Ferocious battle of the banks is brilliant for borrowers
Mortgage rates were thought to have hit the floor when the Bank of England cut the base rate to 0.5% in March 2009. But lenders have been chipping away at their cheapest deals. In March 2009 the average two-year fixed rate was 4.79%, according to data experts Moneyfacts. On a typical £150,000 mortgage monthly repayments were £859.
FTSE 100 index on roughest ride since 2000: Stock market suffers volatility not seen since the dotcom crash that halved the Footsie
Small investors across the country will be struggling to remember a more volatile start to the stock market year than this. In the first two months of this year there were 16 such days when the FTSE 100 index rose or fell by 1.5% or more, according to figures crunched for This is Money by Trustnet Direct.

Honda invests £200m into Swindon plant after confirming new Civic hatchback will be built there no matter the outcome of the EU referendum
The brand, which claims to have already invested a total £2 billion into the Wiltshire factory, said the move 'demonstrated its long-term commitment to manufacturing in the UK'. The Japanese carmaker previewed the new five-door hatchback with a racey looking Civic prototype at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday, a car the brand hopes will appeal to a younger market.
The £400m ITV giveaway: Broadcasting giant rewards shareholders after a blockbuster year for hit shows
There has been ongoing speculation in the City that a US company may have is sights on the British giant, since John Malone's Liberty Global bought a £481m stake more than 18 months ago. But chief executive Adam Crozier said the broadcaster's 'growing scale and success' is the 'best form of defence' against predators.

A flurry of websites have sprung up offering drivers the chance to slash fuel bills by driving fellow workers or neighbours to their place of work. But a significant minority of insurance policies do not cover this. In the most extreme cases companies will tear up a policy or refuse to pay out after an accident.
