Time to celebrate! Rachel McAdams dresses down for dinner with her parents and sister after Spotlight wins Best Picture at Oscars

It has been a few days since Spotlight took home the top honour of Best Picture at this year's Academy Awards.

And Rachel McAdams continued the celebrations on Wednesday as she went for dinner at swanky Italian restaurant The Palm in Beverly Hills.

The 37-year-old was joined by her make-up artist little sister Kayleen and her parents Sandra and Lance.

Rachel, who also has a younger brother named Daniel, grew up in London, Ontario.

Her mother is a nurse and her father was a truck driver and furniture mover before his retirement.

The actress looked chic but casual for the evening, sporting a little black wool dress in a plaid print, paired with matching ankle boots.

Rachel also wore a black leather jacket and wrapped up warm with a pretty baby blue printed scarf, finishing off her look with a navy handbag.

The Mean Girls star styled her ash blonde hair in waves, and highlighted her pretty features with just a little make-up. 

Her sister, who does make-up for celebrities, looked smart in a black top, blazer and trousers, with leopard print sandals.

Rachel was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category at the Academy Awards for her role in Spotlight, but lost out to The Danish Girl's Alicia Vikander.

This was the star's first Oscar nomination, and while she didn't win, she was thrilled that her film took home Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

Rachel showed off two stunning looks during the evening, arriving in a green backless August Getty gown with a thigh-high slit up one leg and a dramatic train.

The True Detective star changed into a plunging pink glittery gown by Naeem Khan before arriving at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party.

Rachel can next be seen in the Doctor Strange movie, which is currently filming and sees Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role.

The film follows an arrogant but brilliant surgeon who in trained by a sorcerer to defend the world against evil, and is due for release on November 4.

Rachel is also rumoured to be reprising her role as Irene Adler in a third Sherlock Holmes movie, alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.
