Suited and booted Pierce Brosnan is accompanied by his doting mother Mary as he shoots new advert in Madrid

He always plays the most debonair gentlemen in his films.

And Pierce Brosnan, 62, proved he is just as charming off screen as he is on it, as he enjoyed a day out with his mother Mary in Madrid on Wednesday.

Strolling through the Spanish capital to film an advert, the former James Bond star escorted his 81-year-old mother through the bustling square.

Clad in a tailored black suit, the Mamma Mia actor cut a typically dapper figure on the day, sporting a crisp white shirt and patent brogues.

Flashing a coy smile, the silver fox turned heads on his journey, but seemed determined to spend as much quality time as he could with his mum.

Meanwhile, Mary looked lovely in a smart red coat that she teamed with a floral scarf and blue trousers.

Beaming broadly, she seemed delighted to catch up with her only son ahead of Mother's Day on Sunday.

The catch up was no doubt cherished by the pair as Pierce has been hard at work filming his latest movie The Foreigner.

Starring alongside Jackie Chan, Pierce is set to star in another action-packed flick that will no doubt see him show off some of the skills he acquired as 007.

Based on Stephen Leather's 1992 novel The Chinaman, the star takes on the role of an ex-IRA member turned government official named Liam Hennessy.

With Jackie playing Quan - a Chinatown restaurant owner who is forced to track down a group of Irish terrorists responsible for the death of his daughter - the film set to be a high paced thriller.

Production for the movie began in January, but the crew found themselves heavily criticised after setting up a stunt that proved so realistic that police were called to the scene.

Last month, filmmakers blew up a double decker bus on London's Lambeth Bridge which left terrified Londoners fearing a terrorist attack had taken place.
