Will it be Lauren, JoJo, Caila or Amanda? Producers 'are choosing one of Ben's final four ladies' to be the next Bachelorette

There are just two women left vying for Ben Higgins' heart on the 20th season of The Bachelor.

And according to a new report, one of the 27-year-old software salesman's top four hopefuls will be crowned the next Bachelorette.

A source confirmed to Us Weekly that producers are planning to select one of the four finalists to become the 12th Bachelorette.

Lauren Bushnell, 26, and Joelle "JoJo" Fletcher, 25, are still in the running to become the next Mrs. Higgins, while Caila Quinn was booted off the show in third place earlier this week and Amanda Stanton came in fourth.

With fans sharing their love for both of the final two, whoever does not get engaged to Ben would no doubt be a great choice, but typically it is rare for the first runner-up to go onto become the Bachelorette.

Nowadays the show starts filming shortly after the season finale of The Bachelor airs, and therefore many the women who come in second are likely to still be heartbroken when the decision is made.

Trista Sutter, the very first Bachelorette, is the only former contestant who came in second place on The Bachelor and then appeared in the spin-off.

Still in the running: Lauren (L) and JoJo are the final two girls and while both would be a great choice, the Bachelorette has for the past few years been either the third or fourth place contestant

However DeAnna Pappas made it into the final two where both she and the other finalist were rejected, and Jen Schefft and Emily Maynard were both Bachelor winners before becoming the Bachelorette after their respective break-ups.

Meanwhile Caila appears to be a favourite for many, including last year's Bachelor Chris Soules, who tweeted after her exit on Monday: 'Dry your tears @CailaQuinn I have a feeling you'll have 25 Plus of the most edible bachelors vying for your heart very soon.'

Caila, 24, acted very graciously when she was unceremoniously dumped by Ben after telling him that she had fallen in love with him.

However others have pointed out that she broke up with her long-term boyfriend for the chance to be on The Bachelor.

Tanner Tolbert, who was on The Bachelorette and then Bachelor In Paradise, where he met wife Jade Roper, tweeted in January: 'Caila dumped her boyfriend because she thought someone on TV was cute? I better disconnect the cable box before Jade gets home.'

The third place position is a popular one for future Bachelorettes however - just look at Kaitlyn Bristowe, Andi Dorfman (who quit The Bachelor of her own accord) and Jillian Harris.

Amanda, 25, who came in fourth place, ticks all the boxes - she's beautiful, sweet, and the fans seem to love her.

Ben broke up with the single mother after meeting her two young children. Amanda had a hard time being away from them for filming, and has admitted that she'd be 'hesitant' about signing on for The Bachelorette.

She told Entertainment Tonight: 'You know, I think that with my oldest daughter starting kindergarten soon, it is kind of a lot to put our lives in such the public eye.

'It is something that I would consider, but it is something that I would be a little hesitant about. I think I am better off maybe just meeting a guy the normal way eventually.'

Past Bachelorettes to come in fourth place on The Bachelor are Desiree Hartsock, Ashley Hebert, and Ali Fedotowsky (who left the show due to work commitments).

Meanwhile, host Chris Harrison recently gushed that he would love for Bachelor fanatic Kaley Cuoco, who is currently divorcing husband Ryan Sweeting, to be in the hot seat.

'Kaley would be great. I would love that,' he told Us Weekly, adding that they have known each other for many years, since she starred on 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter. 'She's an old friend of mine from the ABC days, and I think she likes to drink wine as much as I do.'

However he added that relationships in Hollywood are always changing, explaining: 'It's hard to find a good single celebrity anymore.'

After the Women Tell All special next week, The Bachelor will air its season finale on March 14, followed by After The Final Rose, in which the new Bachelorette is usually revealed.

Many of Ben's other rejects will no doubt appear on Bachelor In Paradise later this year.
