Ariel Winter looks leggy in hotpants as she hikes with beau Laurent Gaudette after revealing she no longer has a relationship with her 'abusive' mother

She put on a glamorous display when she attended a glitzy pre-Oscars bash on Saturday.

But Ariel Winter, 18, dressed down for a tiring hike in LA on Wednesday alongside her longtime beau Laurent Gaudette.

The Modern Family star showed off plenty of leg in a tiny pair of black hotpants which she teamed with a Class of 2016 t-shirt and comfy walking trainers.

The actress looked flushed following the trek, her cheeks giving off a rosy glow.

Ariel's raven tresses fell straight down her shoulders, and she went make-up free for the walk with exercise being the main focus.

Meanwhile, Laurent showed off his toned arms in a black and grey vest and matched it with grey shorts. He sported long black socks and a pair of red trainers for the session.

The loved-up couple walked hand in hand through a car park as the sun beat down on them.

The dark-haired beauty recently opened up about her upbringing in a candid interview with Good Morning America.

She revealed she hasn't spoken to her mum in three-and-a-half years, and discussed going through the courts to gain legal emancipation when she was 17. 

'It's really hard to have that kind of drama in your life and to be going through that court situation and have an open court case and have everybody look at it,' she said. 

'It's already hard enough for abuse victims, but it's harder in the public eye when everybody has an opinion.'

Ariel was removed from her mother's home in 2012, and went to live with her sister Shannelle Grey and her family.

The actress told GMA her mother was 'stage mom' who decided she'd be a star before she was even born.  

'She most definitely was [a stage mom],' she said.

'I think that when I was born it was already decided what I was expected to be, and so I was kind of pushed into the industry,' she said.

'This is what she wanted me to do and she pushed very hard for that and kind of put that at the forefront of her mind instead of what I wanted and what I needed,' Ariel said.  

'That's not to say I don't love it and it's not my passion now, I do love it. And I don't know if I had had my own run if I would have been able to decide what I want to do, I would have,' she said.

The teenager also said she has chosen not to speak in detail about the alleged abuse because she wants to take the high road, and was hurt when her mom discussed the case in public.

'The thing is it's really hard to talk about, and the reason I haven't talked about it thus far is because it was really painful to me to watch my mom go on news outlets and go on Dr Phil and kind of spread things everywhere when it's really just private family business,' Ariel explained.

'But at the end of the day, I feel like, for me, I probably should take the high road and do something that would have wished she would have done for me.'  

The 18-year-old also said her breast reduction surgery last year was the best decision she ever made. She went from a 32F to a 32D.

'I had wanted to get a breast reduction since I developed because I was in excruciating pain,' Ariel said.

'I couldn't sit up straight, it was always super-uncomfortable for me to sleep, it was uncomfortable to sit, it was uncomfortable to walk, and I remember breaking down in dressing rooms because I couldn't find a bathing suit because they had no top that would fit me.

'I just didn't feel right and I did it for myself. It was the best change I ever made in my life.'
