Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale welcomed their first child together one month ago.

And on Sunday the new father showed off his son Rocco for the first time as he enjoyed some down time in New York City.

The 45-year-old American actor cradled the little tot closely to his chest as he attempted to calm him down with a soft tune during their walk.

For the day out the father and son duo matched in an all-navy outfit while new mother Rose was absent from the occasion.

While pushing the baby pram in front of him, Bobby dressed in a deep blue T-shirt which he covered with a matching trench coat and pants.

He went on to cover his brunette hair with a navy woollen beanie.

Rocco blended with his father's outfit choice as he was dressed in a dark coloured jumpsuit.

The parents kept the newborn's tiny feet covered as they slipped on a pair of white socks. 

Bobby confirmed the news of their first child's birth to Late Show host Stephen Colbert earlier last month, while adding they had named their son Rocco.

'You know, I didn't do anything. We [fathers] don't do anything and I'm so tired. I think I've gained 28 pounds since Monday,' he told the host.

A week after the arrival of the little tot, Bobby revealed they had decided on the middle name Robin, in honour of Rose's father.

While speaking to People Magazine he went on to explain the couple also liked the way the two names sounded together.

'We just love the name. His middle name is her dad's name, Robin, and we liked the way it rang together,' he said.

He later gushed about his partner, describing her as an 'incredible' mother.

'She's incredible - she's what you'd think she'd be. She's beautiful and wonderful and he's a beautiful boy.'

Rose Byrne is a new mum and based on this red carpet appearance last year we're pretty sure she's going to be a very stylish mother.

Rose and Bobby have been dating for three years and formally announced they were expanding their brood in November to TV WEEK magazine.

During an interview with the publication Bobby slipped: 'It's a great time and we feel really excited about it'.

Bobby has another son, Jake Cannavale, 20, with whom he shares with his ex-wife, actress and director Jenny Lumet.
