A bright spot! Will Smith 'has agreed to make Bad Boys 3 with Jerry Bruckheimer'... comes just after being trashed at Oscars by Chris Rock

Bad Boys 3 is coming to a theater near you. 

Will Smith and Jerry Bruckheimer have agreed to make the third installment of the hit franchise, according to TMZ. The 47-year-old actor and the producer, 72, discussed the project during two marathon meetings, it was alleged.

This comes just after Chris Rock trashed the comedian during Sunday for boycotting the Oscars. Rock not only told Smith he was not even invited to the show, but he also slammed the star for taking $20m for the 1999 dud Wild Wild West.

The site reported that the twosome spoke on contract terms, as well as the script for the project.

After their second meeting, TMZ asked Jerry outside the restaurant: 'Will and Martin on board for this?' to which Jerry replied, 'We'll see.' 

When asked, 'Would you ever replace them if they didn't want to do it with someone else, like Kevin Hart?' he replied, 'No.'

On Wednesday, Will was spotted in New York City while in the midst of filming his new movie, Collateral Beauty.

Wearing a jacket, sweats and a red baseball cap, Will flashed a smile while on the set of the comedy drama, which is set to be released on December 16.

The David Frankel-directed film also stars Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Jonah Hill and Michael Peña. 

Will starred in both previous Bad Boys films with Martin Lawrence.

The first installment of the action film - Bad Boys - was released in 1995.

Produced by Bruckheimer and Don Simpson, the Michael Bay-directed film earned over $140 million globally. 

Bad Boys II was released in 2003 with Bay serving as director and Bruckheimer as producer; the sequel earned $270 million globally.
