'A lot of people wanted me to do that': Gerard Butler PUNCHES Ross King during interview about his new movie London Has Fallen

Gerard Butler punched Ross King during a playful interview on Good Morning Britain on Thursday.

The star, 46, took a swing at the interviewer as they spoke about his latest movie, London Has Fallen and Ross asked which of them would win in a fight.

With that, Gerard gave him a swift right hook, but it was in the name of fun, as the two Scots made the most of their time on air.

As a comic book style 'Pow' covered up the hit, Gerard turned to the camera and said: 'I know a lot of people have wanted me to do that for a long time.'

In fact, the men go way back and Gerard was actually one of five best men at Ross' wedding.

He spoke about his latest movie role, in which Mike Banning [Butler] is in London for the Prime Minister's funeral, but he discovers a plot to assassinate all the attending world leaders.

Slated for release on March 4, it also stars Aaron Eckhart and Radha Mitchell.

Gerard says he likes to watch movies that he stars in.

'If I can just watch it and forget about myself, I think that's a good sign,' he said.

And when Ross King compared Gerard to James Bond with all his action sequences, he said:

'Yeah, it's great and about 10% of the budget.'

The interview comes as The Gerard Butler v Nikolaj Coster Waldau fantasy flick Gods Of Egypt has flopped to a flaccid $14million opening weekend.

According to Variety, studio Lionsgate had hoped to replace its departing mega hit Divergent and Hunger Games franchises, with a number of sequels in mind.

But after barely making one-tenth of its $140million budget back, that now looks unlikely.

Despite being in its third week, Deadpool still managed to make more than twice as much as Gods Of Egypt, raking in $31.5million this weekend alone.
