Blue is the traditional Democrat colour, while red is normally preferred by Republicans.

Yet Hilary was dressed head to toe in the latter on Thursday - Duff, that is.

The 28-year-old looked gorgeous in a pair of wide-legged high-waist red trousers with a matching silk red top.

The actress was attending the Viacom Kids and Family Group Upfront at Jazz at Lincoln Center In New York.

She accessorized with a pair of large golden hoop earrings, tying her blonde hair up to show them off.

Her choice of shoes meanwhile remained a mystery, so long were her trousers.

Earlier in the day Duff was a vision in white, wearing a pretty petal patterned summer dress, with a long white coat draped over her shoulders.

Viacom is the parent company of Nickelodeon, CMT and TV Land, the three networks that make up its kids and family group.

Its annual 'upfront' is where it pitches its fall schedule of programs to potential advertisers.

Also on hand were Mad Men star Alison Brie, Entourage's Debi Mazar, comedian Jim Gaffigan, talk show host George Lopez, and musicians Kyle Jacobs and Kellie Pickler.

Drake Milligan and Cindi Lauper meanwhile took to the stage to perform.

Also performing were the cast of the musical Million Dollar Quartet, the musical which tells the story of the now famous 1956 impromptu jamming session between up and comers Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis.
