It is not every day one sees a man attacking his fiancee on the beach.

Luckily Josh Brolin was only trying to teach his lady Kathryn Boyd a lesson as he threw the karate kick at her as they larked around on a beach in Costa Rica.

And it was not long before the pair decided to abandon their impromptu fight club, and instead indulged in a smooching session as they made the most of their sun-kissed holiday in Central America.

And peace: But there were no hard feelings between the pair as they were soon sharing a passionate kiss

In scenes reminiscent of Inspector Clouseau and Cato, the pair took turns attacking each other as they worked on their hand-to-hand fighting technique.

And at one point Josh, 48, seemed to be teaching her an ultra-secret deadly technique as he struck a dramatic pose, with his right hand outstretched like a spear while his left hand was held behind his head.

But in true Pink Panther fashion, the most effective method of attack was the most surprising - when canny Kathryn, 30, sneaked up behind Josh so she could throttle him.

Perhaps the reason it was most effective is the No Country for Old Men and his assistant-turned-partner had just indulged in a tender smooching session, with their sparring seemingly at an end.

But the pair were not just exercising during their pleasure break by working on their proficiency in the fighting arts.

For the father-of-two and his other half indulged in a watersports session, where they demonstrated impressive surfing skills.

They also indulged in some serious posing on Milk star Josh's Instagram page, though the most touching image showed them posing at sundown.

The Oscar-winner jokingly captioned the image: 'Evening sunlight #severeangst #nothingisgoingright #hellonearth #blindtosmiles #horriblemoments.'

Josh and Kathryn - who will be his third wife - made for the picture-perfect pair as they pulled each other close at the premiere of his latest film Hail, Caesar in Berlin last month.

Set during 1950s Golden Age of Hollywood, Hail, Caesar! also stars Ralph Fiennes and Jonah Hill and focuses on Hollywood fixer Eddie Mannix (Brolin), who has the difficult task of keeping the film studio's stars in line and covering up scandals.

Mannix is forced to come up with a $100,000 ransom in order to retrieve the studio's biggest star Baird Whitlock (Clooney).

The studio is trying to work on its biggest picture of the year - Hail, Caesar! - when they receive a ransom note informing them their leading man has been kidnapped.

Josh and Kathryn became engaged in March last year, just under a year and a half after his divorce from second wife and American actress Diane Lane was officiated.
