Senator Ted Cruz became the topic of much social media conversation during Thursday night's Republican debate when people began to notice a small white object on his lip.

Many on Twitter began to write about the fleck of white that appeared on his top lip and then his bottom lip, trying to guess what exactly it might be and how it could have gotten there.

Then, Cruz swallowed the object.
