James Packer's cigarette habit is 'becoming an issue' for fiancée Mariah Carey who 'worries about her children being exposed to the harmful smoke'

They've been celebrating in engagement bliss since late January after a whirlwind romance lasting just under a year. 

But like all couples, there's one vice of James Packer's that appears to be bothering his betrothed Mariah Carey. 

Sources close to the couple have told the Sydney Morning Herald that the billionaire's smoking is 'becoming an issue' for the pop diva.

'It's her voice she worries about, and the twins too,' the friend said. 

'She doesn't want them being exposed to James' cigarette smoke... it's becoming a bit of an issue.'

Though the 45-year-old singer has a history of smoking - she confessed to Us Weekly just last year that she smoked 'frequently' between the ages of 12 and 18, and 'never' wants to go back.

'I gave up smoking in one day and never went back,' she said, 'I absolutely detest cigarette smoke now.'

It's a harmful habit 48-year-old James has tried to kick before, unlike his father, the late media mogul Kerry who was also a smoker but never drank.

In an interview with News Corp in 2012, James revealed he'd had lap band surgery to help him lose weight, but the attempts at improving his health stopped there. 

'I'm an idiot. I (still) smoke and do all those things I shouldn't do,' he said.

'I've been off them (cigarettes) for 10 days but, you know, I don't want to say I'm off them, mate, because you know I'll probably have another one in a week.' 

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to James and Mariah's management for comment.
