A stylist who creates handbags with risqué slogans has accused Gucci of using her 'original ideas' on designs featuring graffiti artist Trevor Andrew.

Sonique Saturday, from Los Angeles, who adorns her accessories with phrases like 'Fake Chanel', responded after social media users noticed a similarity between her work and a handbag by the Italian fashion house.

The Gucci tote, featuring the slogan 'Real Gucci', was first seen on the catwalk last Wednesday as part of the Autumn Winter 2016 collection at Milan Fashion Week.

Sonique's handbag collection named Belladonna has been established for four years and she tweeted, seemingly to point out the similarities.

The celebrity stylist, who has 3,800 followers, wrote: 'Run me my money Gucci, I'm excited to have my original ideas on your runway.'

She added on Twitter the next day: 'I'm flattered that I was able to inspire a brand that has been around for centuries.'

Sonique's designs sell for up to $220 (£156) and while the Gucci bag is not yet on sale, the brand's accessories can cost thousands.

Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele had GucciGhost - also known as Trevor Andrew and husband of singer Santigold - work with them on designs.

Andrew, who’s been masquerading as GucciGhost for several years now, lent his signature graffiti tag to real-life Gucci bags, frocks and an extremely covetable bomber jacket.

But many of her fans were not so calm and expressed their strong views on the controversial design.

Ernest Hennyway tweeted both Gucci and Sonique: 'I know that's real. Time to get a lawyer.'

While @Suniliaa posted: 'Gucci you stole Sonique Saturday's idea for your recent collection. She deserves acknowledgement and revenue.'

And @gonebvdd tweeted: 'Gucci give Sonique Saturday her credit #creativedesignerposition.'

Many also commented on an Instagram image Gucci posted of the bag.

Marisa_hates_all posted: 'She made this whole concept and what do you do? Take away her work and give the credit to yourself.'

'It is not about the paint or the graffiti; it is about the wording and juxtaposition.'
