With UFC 196 just around the corner, Conor McGregor is finishing off his preparations to be in tip-top condition and showed fans his own way of staying sharp when in the Octagon.

The 27-year-old - who was meant to fight Rafael dos Anjos before he suffered a broken foot - is readying himself for the replacement, Nate Diaz, knowing he has to go up 25 pounds.

And as the day draws closer, McGregor is stepping up his regime and took to Instagram to show his followers some of his techniques to stay quick and nimble.

He said: 'The real secret behind becoming the best fighter of all time: fight thousands of battles. But since no one can survive that damage - simulations come in.

'But there are simulations and then there are simulations!' - Great work this week with my brother Ido!! #AllDayLongWork.'

McGregor has certainly made his mark in the UFC and the confident Irishman quipped about having his own accolade during pre-fight press conference. 

'It doesn't matter what weight division or what belt is on the line because really I should create my own belt.,' he joked.

'I myself am my own belt. It doesn't matter if it's featherweight, lightweight, welterweight. It's the McGregor belt. So that's it. I'm fighting for my own belt.'
