The Murdoch and Hall clans gather in London to celebrate the wedding of Jerry, 59, and Rupert, 84, after their whirlwind romance as the bridegroom reveals: 'I feel like the luckiest man in the world'

Beaming broadly for the waiting photographers - ensuring a good view of her £2.4million engagement ring as she tenderly touched her new husband's chest - the new Mrs Murdoch couldn't have looked happier following the official wedding to her 84-year-old billionaire lover.

Former supermodel Jerry Hall, 59, has today married tycoon Rupert Murdoch during a low-key ceremony at Spencer House, overlooking Green Park, in central London, following a whirlwind five-month romance.

And it seems he shares his new wife's excitement - breaking from a flurry of political tweets posted both before and after the midday ceremony to announce a break from social media, posting: 'No more tweets for ten days or ever! Feel like the luckiest AND happiest man in world.'

The ceremony was witnessed by Mr Murdoch's son Lachlan, who was joined by his wife Sarah, and one of Ms Hall's closest friends Suzanne Acosta, wife of Rolling Stones star Bill Wyman. The select party then moved on to an informal wedding breakfast at Scott's restaurant, in Mayfair.

The pair will tomorrow hold a private ceremony of celebration at St Bride's Church on Fleet Street where around 100 guests will include the groom’s six and bride’s four children, Tory MP Michael Gove, and Sir Michael Caine.

Former BBC executive Alan Yentob, a good friend of Ms Hall's, and Murdoch supporter Boris Johnson are also rumoured to be attending  - but David Cameron and George Osborne are not believed to be among the guests.

This afternoon, the newlyweds arrived at the church for a rehearsal, accompanied by family and friends.

It is believed the ceremony will be officiated by Canon Alison Joyce, assisted by Fr Jonathan Morris from New York, the Guardian reports. Fr Morris has previously worked for Fox News.

The union marks Mr Murdoch's fourth marriage - but is technically Ms Hall's first.

She and long-term partner Mick Jagger had an unofficial marriage ceremony in Bali in 1990 but it was deemed void after a high court battle following their split.

Ms Hall revealed how aggrieved she felt with Sir Mick - 13 years her senior and the father of her four children - when his incessant womanising finally made her decide to end their relationship in 1999. They had met in 1977.

'I forgave and forgave and forgave to the point that it wasn't healthy at all,' the 6ft model ruefully recalled.

Mr Murdoch was first married to Patricia Booker, a former flight attendant from Melbourne, second to Glasgow-born journalist Anna Torv, who he met when she was working with a newspaper in Sydney and third to Wendi Deng, a businesswoman from China, who he met while she was an intern at a TV station owned by News Corp. Their break-up came amid reports about her infatuation with former Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The former Labour leader is also godfather to Grace, 14, his first child with Deng. It will be no surprise then that Mr Blair is not expected to be among tomorrow's wedding party.

About 100 people are expected to attend the ceremony, including Mr Murdoch’s niece Penny Fowler, to whom the couple owe their happiness after she introduced them.

Recently restored News UK chief Rebekah Brooks will be accompanied by her husband Charlie at the event, and former editor of the Times, Robert Thomson, now chief executive of News Corporation, will also be in attendance.

Until his jubilant announcement that he was 'the luckiest and happiest man in the world', observers of Mr Murdoch's Twitter account would have had little clue about his impending nuptials. He continued to tweet both before and after the ceremony about U.S. politics.

The 59-year-old bride wore navy for her big day. Ms Hall paired her understated outfit with a trench rumoured to be by MaxMara and black tights - which she was photographed shopping for less than an hour before the ceremony - while Mr Murdoch wore a matching navy suit.

The bride wore her blonde hair loose with relaxed curls and posed with a crocodile-print handbag in Roger Vivier flats while showing off her wedding ring.

Spencer House was built between 1756-1766 for John, first Earl Spencer, an ancestor of Diana, Princess of Wales, and it is said to be London's finest surviving 18th-century town house.

Scott’s, the restaurant where they held their wedding breakfast, is a lavish seafood restaurant specialising in oysters, caviar and champagne.

A dozen oysters with wild boar sausages costs £44 while beluga caviar fetches £420.A lobster costs £43 while the fish of the day - a lemon sole on the day of their union - is £30. A bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal Rose can be bought for £1,150.

The restaurant, established in 1872, hit the headlines in 2013 when Charles Saatchi put his hand around the neck of his then wife, Nigella Lawson, during a row.

Mr Murdoch has four daughters from three marriages; Prudence, 57, Elisabeth, 47, Grace, 14, and Chloe 12.

Ms Hall's daughters, Elizabeth, 32, and Georgia, 23, from her relationship to Sir Mick Jagger will also be in attendance as her bridesmaids.

Mr Murdoch is also father to sons Lachlan, 44, and James, 43, while Ms Hall is mother to Gabriel, 18, and James, 30, with Jagger.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the pair were eager to include all of their children in the ceremony on Saturday to start their new life as a blended family.

'All the daughters are being included, from both sides... it was a very specific request to bring them all together for the wedding,' a source told the newspaper.

It had previously been reported the couple would tie the knot at St Bride's church in Fleet Street, the spiritual home of British journalism. However it is now known that the couple will hold a second ceremony there tomorrow.

Claire Seaton from St Bride's said: 'He will be having a service to celebrate the marriage.'

Mr Murdoch and Ms Hall started dating in the late summer having been introduced by one of Murdoch's sisters and his niece in Australia.

The couple made their relationship public on October 31 when they were seen for the first time together at the Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham in London.

They were pictured wearing matching Wallabies scarves and smooching in the stands.

The pair were next seen walking arm-in-arm down the red carpet ahead of the Golden Globes awards ceremony.

Their engagement was announced days afterwards in The Times newspaper - one of the papers owned by Murdoch - on January 12.

Last week Ms Hall showed off her 10-carat marquise diamond engagement ring, thought to have cost £2.4million.

This will be Mr Murdoch's fourth marriage, having divorced Wendi Deng in 2013.

The couple had three children together and were married for more than 30 years before ending their relationship in 1999. Details are sparse but it is reported that the divorce could have cost him $1.2billion.

Just weeks after the divorce, Murdoch married Wendi Deng, a businesswoman from China, who he met while she was an intern at a TV station owned by News Corp.

She was 38 years his junior and had previously been married to a man 30 years older than her.

Murdoch and Deng split in 2013 and he remained single until news of his relationship to former model Jerry Hall – 25 years his junior - was announced last year.

Miss Hall is known for her relationship with Mick Jagger, who she was with for more than 20 years. However, she had a star-studded relationship history long before meeting him.

She moved to Paris as a model in the 70s and was reportedly the girlfriend of Brian Ferry, appearing on the cover of his band Roxy Music's first album Sirens.

They split five months later, but she also appeared in a 1976 video for his solo hit Let's Stick Together.

By then she was one of the world's most famous models and met Mick Jagger in 1976.

They have four children together and had an unofficial marriage ceremony in Bali in 1990, but split in 1999, because of his infidelity, Hall claimed.

After that, she had a number of younger lovers, starting with film producer George Waud, then London banker Tim Attias, 49.

She then met scientist Armand Leroi, 51, but the two split last year, before her relationship to Murdoch was announced when they were pictured at the Rugby World Cup in October.

WITH AN AGE GAP OF 45 YEARS, LET'S HOPE THEIR KIDS GET ON!
