  • Endorsed Trump as 'ultimate hooligan' saying 'he will listen thoughtfully to the other side's argument and then he'll kick their f****** heads in'

  • Trump's unpopular, often extreme views have made him a figure of fun

Sacha Baron Cohen's fictional character Nobby has publicly endorsed Donald Trump for president describing him as the 'ultimate soccer hooligan'.

The comedian, 44, whose previous creations included Ali G and Borat, was in character as Nobby, a football hooligan from Grimsby, at the US premiere last night.

Brandishing a fake gun and wearing a red cap with Trump's 'Make America Great Again' slogan on it, Nobby praised the Republican front-runner as he 'will listen thoughtfully to the other side's argument and then he'll kick their f****** heads in.'

The Cambridge-educated comedian, who completed his look with a replica England shirt and extreme sideburns while clutching a pint of beer, said: 'Initially I was going to endorse that crazy liberal socialist Ted Cruz, but it was Donald's rallies that won me over.

'They're like soccer matches in England: shouting, violence, abuse. The only difference is we don't throw black people out.'

Baron Cohen, also dressed in the stereotypical 'Brit abroad' outfit of socks and sandals, added: 'History has shown that a loud, ranting bloke stirring up racial hatred at rallies has never hurt anyone.

'He's going to choose as his running mate that retired black doctor who's had a big drop in his popularity. You know...Bill Cosby.'

The pot-bellied Grimsby hooligan then praised The Donald for his business acumen referring to him as a 'bloody genius'.

'In the 1970s he inherited a mere $40billion. He didn't just put that in the bank...[if he had done] now it would be worth $80billion', he said.

'But instead through careful investments, business acquisitions, he's now worth an amazing $4billion.'

He then pledged half his 'weekly unemployment benefit' - totaling £36.20 - to the billionaire's campaign.

He finished with the rallying cry: 'People of America please vote Donald and let's turn the White House into the Orange House.'

The Republican presidential candidate appears in the film itself, which opens at US screens on March 11.

It includes a controversial scene in which Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, who is played by a double, is infected after a misdirected gunshot splatters the blood of a HIV-positive child into his mouth.

At the end of the satiric comedy, Trump is then infected with Radcliffe's blood leading to news reports that 'Donald Trump has AIDS.'

At the end of the film, the credits note: 'Daniel Radcliffe was not involved in this film. And is not HIV positive.'

A similar notice is also included for Trump.

At screenings in Europe, the joke has reportedly been greeted with 'loud cheering' and even standing ovations.

During his promotion for the film, Baron Cohen appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show as Borat.

His character from Kazakhstan said Trump must be a fictional person because nobody would try to ban all Muslims from the US unless they had the brain 'the size of a female chicken.'

He concluded that Trump must be another one of Cohen's 'offensive' characters.

Baron Cohen, the grandson of a Holocaust survivor, is no stranger to controversy.

At the UK premiere of Borat he arrived in a cart pulled by a mule and a number of 'Kazakh women,' announcing: 'Good evening, gentleman and prostitutes. After this I stay in a hotel in Kings Cross. We will all drink, wrestle with no clothes on and shoot dogs from the window.'

His premiere last week was just as outrageous with the comedian arriving in only a pair of Y-fronts and a polo neck, surrounded by scantily clad beauties.

His wife, actress Isla Fisher, 40, played up to the antics, feeding her husband chips on the red carpet, while child actors were encouraged to swear into the cameras.

His latest film sees football hooligan Nobby team up and go on the run with his suave secret agent brother Sebastian, played by Mark Strong.

Residents of Grimsby have long protested over the film, which they worry paints their home as dominated by hooliganism and poverty.
