Funding your doctoral degree
Unlike most graduate degrees in business, the PhD Programme is unique in terms of the time, intensity and commitment needed for completion. There are many benefits to pursuing this route. The first of many is that your doctoral studies are fully funded at INSEAD for the first 5 years of full-time studies. Thus, you will not need to seek loans to pay for tuition fees in France or Singapore. Tuition fees are covered 100%. In addition, at INSEAD, you are also granted a generous stipend to cover your living expenses and research support, which are tax free, and health insurance coverage.
The reason we offer such generous support to you as a student is that your development as a scholar is an investment in the institution itself. From our perspective, if you become a world-renowned researcher and successful professor in academia, the profile of INSEAD as a leading business school is only further enhanced.
Of course, many of our scholars also qualify for external funding and support, in terms of fellowships, grants and other scholarships. We strongly encourage you to seek support from these external sources, as they will increase your living allowance during the programme. However, if you are unable to qualify for external funding, INSEAD is able to offer a complimentary tuition waiver and stipend. Ultimately, you need not be concerned that if you are accepted that you will be unable to pay. INSEAD is here to support you.

As such, working part-time during the programme is not permitted, as it is counterproductive to your development.
