Central Asia PRI has been working in the Central Asia region since 2001. It currently manages programmes in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and maintains contact with partners in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. East Africa In East Africa, we promote alternatives to imprisonment, abolition of the death penalty, juvenile justice reform, and improving conditions for women and girls in the criminal justice system. Middle East and North Africa PRI’s Middle East and North Africa team currently operates in Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq and Kuwait. Russia, Ukraine and Belarus PRI has been working in the region since 1998. Current work focuses on torture prevention, protecting the rights of vulnerable groups, and promoting alternatives to imprisonment. South Caucasus In the South Caucasus, we focus on torture prevention, promoting non-custodial sanctions, building the capacity of prison and probation services and improving justice for children. South Asia PRI has worked in South Asia since the mid-1990s. We currently work primarily on Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, and seek to promote criminal justice best practice and standards across the region. Global Advocacy We contribute to the development and implementation of human rights and criminal justice standards.
