FedEx flew two-year-old Brooklyn Faris from Memphis to Chicago during a blizzard last week so she could receive a liver transplant. Brooklyn, who was adopted by Jesse and Nick Faris in 2015, has a genetic condition called Alagille syndrome that causes liver failure. After more than a year of waiting for a transplant, the Farises received a call on February 24. With an impending blizzard, however, the struggled to find a flight that would get them to Chicago within hours. After considering driving or chartering a private jet, a family friend connected them to a commercial FedEx flight.

After watching a driver lose control of a tractor trailer in a fiery crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, two fellow truck drivers made the split-second decision to save the victim from the flaming wreck in an incredible moment that was caught on camera. Abelardo Cadet-Ottly, a truck driver in training, was on his way from Massachusetts to Illinois with an instructor February 18 when the tractor trailer driving in the opposite lane suddenly struck the median strip, exploding on impact. 'I was scared,' Ottly told Daily Mail Online in a phone interview Saturday. Ottly and the instructor, Juan Suarez, immediately decided to exit their vehicle and run over to the wreck, which lay burning across the eastbound lane of the I-76 close to Exit 226 at Carlisle. 'As soon as our truck stopped, we got out and started running to the wall, and jumped over to the other side,' Ottly said.

These are the horrifying pictures of mummified corpses of dozens of animals that starved to death in the world's worst zoo. The animals were left without food due to the Palestinian and Israeli conflict, as staff were unable to feed or care for them properly.

In real life Juji (inset) is a 100-pound goldendoodle from Virginia, but to the 51,000 eager followers of owner Christopher Cline's Instagram account, he's a world-travelling, bike-writing, building-climbing giant who stars in a series of adorable photographic adventures. Using photo-editing software, Christopher turns Juji into the biggest dog in the world, and sends them both off on adventures that take them from the highest peaks to frozen waterfalls and even disco dance floors. Christopher was introduced to Juji in August 2014, when his girlfriend Christine decided to get what was then a tiny goldendoodle puppy. The description attached to a simple Instagram photograph of Juji from around that time reads 'This Sunday we'll be adding one more to our family... A rare 'super bloom' has carpeted Death Valley National Park in California with an enchanting and stunning display of gold, pink, purple and white wildflowers. Every spring some wildflowers bloom before it gets scorching hot, but this year the California desert got three very rare storms in the first two weeks of October that dropped more than three inches of rain in some parts of the valley. The rain is thought to be a result of El Nino and it was enough to trigger the growth of millions of wildflower seeds that have been awaiting significant rainfall. The last bloom of this magnitude was in 2005.

Photographer Ben Thouard, 29, captured the stunning snaps while swimming into the waves at Teahupo'o, on the south-west coast of Tahiti, where at least five surfers have died since 2000. Despite the risks, the extreme sport's best athletes continue to flock to Teahupo'o, which is said to have 'the heaviest wave on earth'. To capture his images, Thouard scouts out particular shapes and the right swell direction, usually during the 'golden hour' of sunrise or sunset.

During a recent deep-sea dive in the Hawaiian Archipelago, a remotely operated vehicle came across an unknown creature. Unlike most cephalopods, the little octopus found by the NOAA Deep Discoverer lacks pigment, making it ghostlike and mysterious, and every bit adorable. At more than 4,000 meters below the surface, this is the deepest observation ever published of this type of cephalopod, and researchers say its cartoonish appearance has social media users pushing to name it 'Casper.'

The pair are seen waiting at junction on a motorbike in Taizhou, China, before the truck turns into them. In shocking footage the girl is flung from the bike but thankfully escapes with only minor injuries. The driver clearly fails to notice the father and daughter at a set of traffic lights, possibly because they are in a blind spot. Reports by Russia Today say local police claimed both vehicles violated traffic regulations.
