Good Morning America Weekend host and ABC News correspondent Sara Haines welcomed a baby boy on Saturday with her husband Max Shifrin. 

The seven pound five ounce baby, named Alec Richard Shifrin after the couples' fathers, was born on Saturday.

Haines allowed her followers to be a part of the experience as she broadcast the entire magical day on Periscope.

Haines wrote on an Instagram picture of the new family: 

'We did it!!! On March 5th, 2016 we met our little guy Alec Richard Shifrin (named after our dads). 

'He weighed in at 7 lbs. 5 ounces.

'We are excited, exhausted, and possibly still in shock, but soaking it all in.

'Thank you for all of the kind messages and encouraging words. 

'It will take a village to raise this little man.'

Both Haines and her baby are doing well. Alec arrived ahead of the March 9 due date.

After Haines' water broke, she and Shifrin walked their dog, Trixie. 

Haines and Shifrin, who wed in November of 2014, reside in New York City. 

Haines is the is the lifestyle anchor for Good Morning America Weekend. She used to appear on NBC's Today Show.
