'I'm having a bad day': Carol Wright breaks down in tears as she continues to grieve her late mother Nanny Pat on TOWIE

It has only been a couple of months since her mother's death.

So it's perhaps understandable that Carol Wright lost her composure in Sunday's episode of The Only Way Is Essex.

The reality TV personality broke down in tears as she chatted with Debbie Bright about the forthcoming charity auction - of which she said Nanny Pat, AKA Patricia Brooker, would've been proud.

The blonde matriarch, who is the mum of Mark, Elliott and Jess, got upset despite her best efforts to remain dignified while in the company of others.

It followed Debbie's comments that this year's event would be particularly sensitive for everybody following the 80 year-old's passing.

Talking through the tears, Carol said: 'She would've been proud. I'm so sorry about this - but I'm just having a bad day.'

Later, Carol seemed in a lighter mood and joked that Nanny Pat would've made a bid in the auction - for the topless waiter, Mike.

However, that soon descended into more sadness when Debbie presented her with a heartfelt sympathy gift.

Speaking to Carol while presenting her with a framed, white feather, Debbie said: 'It's been 11 years since I lost my Dad, but somebody once said to me that every now and again a white feather will fall near you - meaning they're near. The same is true for you with Pat.'

Tearing up again, Carol responded: 'I'm a very lucky girl. She had a fantastic life and I have so many wonderful memories of her. I have to remember that.'

Earlier in the episode she had hinted that she was struggling with the idea of facing the event without her beloved parent.

Sobbing into her hands, the scene came just hours after it was revealed that the late TV star has left more than £400,000 to her five children equally.

The Mirror reports that the matriarch's estate, which mainly consisted of her home in Dagenham, Essex, will be left in full, minus funeral expenses.

Nanny Pat was a much-loved star of the show, famed for cooking up her sausage plaits and hilarious one-liners.

The much-adored star celebrated her 80th birthday on the ITVBe reality show weeks before her death, enjoying a royal wedding themed birthday bash in Surrey.

She broke down in tears on the episode as she remembered her late husband Charlie, whose photo she would carry around in her purse.

The matriarch, who was born in 1935, initially turned down the chance of appearing on TOWIE alongside her family as she said she wanted to watch television, not be on it.
