The grey-haired fashionista, 74, jumped up onto the runway  as her Autumn/Winter showcase took place in the French capital.

Rushing towards the brunette model, she quickly adjusted the garment, which seemed to have come open leaving her virtually topless.

Keen to protect the woman's modesty, she laughed the matter off before quickly reclaiming her seat on the front row.

Thankfully, the show was only momentarily delayed and rapidly picked up pace again - with the model taking the sartorial slip-up in her stride.

A short time later Vivienne was joined on stage for a second time - although, this time, alongside her collaborator Andreas Kronthaler.

Cheering her latest collection, he helped celebrate the show's artistic creations and take attention away from the faux pas.

The clothes horses commanded the catwalk in designs that were weird and wonderful, in equal measure.

Certainly not a show for the conformist, male models defied convention in metallic gold dresses and billowing jumpsuits - their faces inscribed with some conspicuous make-up looks - as they strut their stuff in platforms.

Their female counterparts sashayed before the vibrant crowd in some equally mesmerising styles.

Put a spring in your step in this quirky Vivienne Westwood sweater-dress

Vivienne Westwood is still on her toes as she saves a model from a wardrobe malfunction during Paris Fashion Week. The brunette model happened to be wearing this asymmetric wrap knit dress that we absolutely love.

In maroon with white stripes and orange floral details, this is a one of a kind piece. The loose v-neck and cut outs down the arm give this knit wear an unravelled look, perfect for the transition period between winter and spring.

Unfortunately, currently this piece is unavailable for purchase but you can shop the rest of Westwood's collection by clicking right. Or check out our look-alikes below.

Try on lovely asymmetric stripes at John Lewis and Macy's. Wrap up and be cosy in this one button cardigan from Bobeau. Or put on Westwood in this Anglomania sweater. Either way you'll have the perfect piece for March weather.

And it seems Vivienne's whimsical extravaganza was a hit with sportsman Lewis Hamilton, as he gushed about the spectacle on Instagram later in the day. 'Arriving at the amazing #VivienneWestwood show today. in #PFW,' he enthused.

Lewis Hamilton took some time away from his racing career to revel in his love of fashion on Saturday, as he graced the front row of Vivienne Westwood's Paris Fashion Week show.

The 31-year-old Formula One World Champion ditched his race suit in favour of a more stylish ensemble as he joined the fashion elite to gaze at the iconic British designer's latest showcase.

While the event was full of suavely clad gentleman, Lewis chose to break the mould in a more casual, though nonetheless fashion-forward, outfit.

He finished the look with crisp white trainers and a thin silver chain around his neck, for that added bling. His locks were worn in his signature quiffed style, while his face also fashioned some designer stubble.
