'They'd kill me otherwise!' Lady Gaga says her mother's Italian family are helping plan her wedding to Taylor Kinney

They were seen taking the Polar Plunge at the weekend, jumping into a freezing Lake Michigan for charity.

But Lady Gaga says that when it comes to taking the actual plunge with her wedding - it's her family who are in the driving seat.

The 29-year-old singer - who is engaged to actor Taylor Kinney, 34 - said on Monday that her mother Cindy and female relatives are organising her big day.

She jokingly told Ryan Seacrest in aniHeart Radio interview, that if she didn't let them be involved she thinks they'd 'kill' her.

'I think if I wouldn't let my mom do this with all of us and my family - I think if I would've denied the women of my life the planning of the wedding - they would probably kill me,' she joked.

'I have all the help in the world in a way!' the star told him.

The Poker Face singer accepted Taylor's proposal last Valentine's Day and preparations for their nuptials are well underway.

He presented the Applause hitmaker with a stunning diamond engagement ring - which was designed by jeweller to the stars Lorraine Schwartz - which not only featured a giant heart-shaped piece of ice, but also had a band with a message created in the precious stones.

Her romantic beau had the letters T and S separated by a heart symbol put onto the band's base to represent Taylor loves Stefani.

She's been coy in giving away any details but told Ryan that they were planning something low-key.

'We are not planning anything that is worth writing about,' she told him, although from the famously outlandish American Horror Story star that seems unlikely.

In January, the Chicago Fire actor told DailyMail.com that the couple hadn't even managed to nail down a date just yet.

'We keep on, back and forth on dates, and I think it’ll just be a surprise,' he said at the DailyMail.com's afterparty for the People's Choice Awards - after winning a gong for Favorite Dramatic TV Actor.

The blonde beauty - whose real name is Stefani Germanotta - had previously been thought to be planning a traditional and lavish family affair embracing her Italian roots.

A source told Page Six: 'She wants to celebrate her heritage, so they’re looking at places in the Italian countryside. She wants a big Italian wedding'.
