'He's gone': Exhilarating first trailer for Game Of Thrones season six finally arrives... and there's plenty of Jon Snow

The first full trailer for season six of Game Of Thrones is finally here.

The one-and-a-half minute clip features plenty of scenes with Jon Snow - and he's dead in all of them.

To a haunting cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game by James Vincent McMorrow, the trailer opens right where season five left off: with the the Lord Commander's bloodied body lying sprawled in the snow at the foot of Castle Black.

'He's gone,' Davos Seaworth's voice can be heard mournfully whispering off screen.

'We're the only ones who matter,' Jamie Lannister's voice chimes in, as he is seen consoling his sister and lover Cersei, 'and everything they've taken from us, we're going to take back... and more.'

Davos can then be seen standing forlornly over what looks like the remnants of a funeral pyre.

The former Hand of the late Stannis - played by Irish Actor Liam Cunningham - features prominently in the trailer: in the next scene the normally confident Lady Melisandre fights back tears as she tells him: 'The great victory I saw in the flames... All of it was a lie.'

A Bolton army is then seen amassed on a battlefield, watching as a flayed man - their rather grim house sigil - burns upside-down on a rack.

After a glimpse of Ramsay and Roose Bolton, we see Jorah Mormont and Daario Naharis on horseback, presumably frantically searching all over Essos for the AWOL Daenerys Targaryen, and somehow finding the ring she dropped.

When we catch up the queen she is being marched along with a massive Khalasar to what appears to be Vaes Dothrak, as she stares up at the enormous fighting horse statues at the gates.

'Every one of us is poor and powerless; yet we can overthrow an empire,' the High Sparrow tells someone as he fades into view.

Next comes a glimpse of the Iron Islands, domain of the House Greyjoy, which hasn't featured much in the series so far but promises to in the coming series.

'You're in the great game now... and the great game is terrifying,' Peter Dinklage's Tyrion Lannister tells another unknown listener as he holds aloft a flaming torch, before a brief glimpse of the dragon Drogon is seen soaring through the sky.

Then the music cuts and the brooding trailer changes tone; in the silence Lancel Lannister - now a sparrow and member of the Faith Militant - demands of Cersei: 'Order your man to step aside or there will be violence.'

The camera cuts to 'her man' - the monstrous Ser Robert Strong - widely assumed to be the Mountain resurrected, who looks like he has no intention of standing aside.

The rest of the cast are then swiftly reintroduced, including King Tommen Baratheon, Peter Littlefinger Baelish, Thormund Giantsbane, Sansa Stark, and her still-blind sister Arya.

Theon Greyjoy can be seen surrounded by armed guards with dogs - whom if are aligned with house Bolton spells trouble for him - while another man, can be seen undergoing a Greyjoy 'baptism' - possibly by Theon's uncle Damphair - which involves being drowned and then resuscitated.

Gwendoline Christie's Brienne of Tarth is seen - as usual - slitting someone's throat, while Carice van Houten's Red Priestess can be seen - as usual - about to disrobe.

There's also plenty of intense action scenes, as horseback knights clash, Dothraki screamers charge, archers ready their bows and at least one unfortunate soul gets a swinging fireball to the sternum.

Then for the second time in the trailer, the distressing sight of Jon Snow's dead body makes an appearance, as someone gingerly places a hand over his eyes - and this time its not the fingerless Davos.

As the action scenes reach a climax, the penultimate scene shows Bran - played by Isaac Hempstead Wright - who returns to the show after skipping a season while the rest of the storylines caught up to his.

In what is almost certainly a vision - seeing as he cannot walk - he stands in the snow, and turns to find the Night's King stood right behind him.

The very last scene returns once again to Jon Snow's lifeless body, as Davos and Ghost stand over him, while two armed black brothers stand threateningly behind him.

'I've never been much of a fighter,' he says as he slowly picks up Snow's sword Longclaw,' apologies for what you're about to see.'

He then suddenly tears the sword from its scabbard and attacks, before the clip fades to black.
