Her pregnancy has not been written into The Americans. 

And all credit must go to the cameramen because even Keri Russel herself is having trouble keeping her bump covered.

The actress was all smiles as she stepped out to lunch with friends at Locanda Verde restaurant in New York City on Monday.

The 39-year-old, who hits the big 4-0 on the 23rd of this month, did her best to keep the brewing baby warm in a thick green tweed coat.

She finished her cute outfit in a striped top, white jeans and slip-ons, not forgetting her shades on the sunny Tribeca afternoon. 

There was no sign of the baby's dad, on and off screen partner Matthew Rhys.

Keri and 41-year-old Matthew have been in a relationship since 2013, after she split with her husband, Shane Deary.

Keri is already mom to two children: eight-year-old son River Russell and four-year-old daughter Willa Lou with her ex, to whom she was married for six years.

In the FX series, the actress and her beau play a married couple, Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, both KGB sleeper agents.

The pair have been frequently been seen recently filming scenes for the fourth season of the show in Brooklyn, where they also live in real life.

Despite expecting their her third - and Matthew's first - child in the summer, the shows directors have been forced to shoot around it, having decided against writing the pregnancy into the plot.

Season four of The Americans debuts on FX on Wednesday, March 16.
