MANILA – Ara Mina came to the defense of her sister Cristine Reyes following the resignation of Vivian Velez from the ABS-CBN series “Tubig at Langis” allegedly due to Reyes’ rudeness.

Speaking to entertainment site PEP, Mina said she is saddened that people were quick to judge her sister even without hearing her side of the story.

“I heard what happened between Ms. Vivian Velez and my sister Cristine. I'm disheartened that the issue has been blown out of proportion. Alam namin that people have already judged and speculated bago pa nila bigyan si Cristine ng pagkakataon na magpaliwanag. Hence, I decided to release this statement instead,” she said.

“I had a talk with my sister and she aired her side of the story. As much as I want to elaborate, I'd rather not to. And I'm not in the position since I was not physically present in the incident and not to put more fuel to the fire. Maybe she'll give her statement when she's ready,” she added.

In the PEP report, Mina said her sister has been meaning to reach out to Velez.

“Actually, gusto niya kausapin si Ms. Vivian to clear the air out, and para maintindihan ni Ms. Vivian what really transpired between her and the room assignment. However, Ms. Vivian was quoted na tumangging makipag-usap sa kanya,” she said.

Nonetheless, Mina is hoping Reyes and Velez could settle things amicably.

“I hope na maayos ito. Lahat naman ay nadadaan sa maayos at magandang pag-uusap. I'll pray and wish that everything will be okay between the two of them,” she said.
