Meanwhile 26-year-old Taron opted for a lavender dress shirt and black pants.

Eddie The Eagle follows the realisation of the childhood dream of Michael Edwards (a.k.a Eddie), and his unflinching determination to become Great Britain’s first Olympic ski-jumper.

Reluctantly aided by former ski-jumper Bronson as his coach, Eddie is unwavering in his quest to reach the 1988 Calgary Winter Games.

Although the sporting ace had little success on the ski fields - largely due to his fear of heights - his determination and can-do attitude endeared him greatly to the British public.

After finishing last in both his categories at the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympic Games, he returned to the UK where he competed on a number of reality television shows.

The movie's official trailer sees Eddie and Bronson bond over their love for sport, with Taron’s character confessing: ‘I was kicked off every team I was on before I even got the chance to prove myself. I swear I need my own moment.’

Empathising his sentiment, the coach tells him: ‘I know what it’s like to be written off, you’ll get your moment and it’s going to hurt like hell.’

The film is directed by Sunshine on Leith’s Dexter Fletcher and produced by Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service) alongside Adam Bohling, David Reid, Valerie Van Galder and Rupert Maconick.

This Is England’s Jo Hartley, Tim McInnerny (Blackadder), Keith Allen (Robin Hood), Catch Me If You Can actor Christopher Walken and British star Jim Broadbent also join the star-studded cast.
