George Ford needs treatment after 'scary moment' in England training, but fly-half recovers and should be fit for Wales clash

  • George Ford collided with Joe Launchbury during England training
  • Launchbury described it as a 'scary moment' but both men are fine
  • Ford was able to take a full part in the rest of the session

George Ford suffered a 'scary moment' during England's penultimate training session before facing Wales when he collided with Joe Launchbury and was helped from the field in some distress.

The replacement England lock, back in the match-day 23 after recovering from the hamstring injury which saw him miss out on the win over Ireland, accidentally collided with fly-half Ford midway through the session at their Surrey training base.

Ford was described as appearing 'groggy' but was allowed to carry on training after being checked over by England medics.

'There was a bit of a scary moment in training but he came back on and we've made up now,' said Launchbury.

Ford took a full part in the rest of the session and is not believed to be a doubt for Saturday's Six Nations encounter at Twickenham.

Coach Eddie Jones has named an unchanged starting line-up to the one that beat Ireland at Twickenham a fortnight ago with Ford, Owen Farrell and Jonathan Joseph continuing to form the midfield axis after three unbeaten games in the championship.

There is a place on the bench for Manu Tuilagi, back in the England set-up for the first time in almost two years, as one of four changes to the replacements.
