Conor McGregor slams critics Jose Aldo and Rafael dos Anjos in explosive rant after defeat by Nate Diaz at UFC 196

Other than a few choice words for Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor was remarkably restrained in the aftermath of his defeat by Nate Diaz.

Not any longer.

The simmering Irishman, who lost for the first time in the UFC, delivered an explosive rant on the morning after the night before.

'I stormed in and put it all on the line. I took a shot and missed,' he wrote on Instagram. 'I will never apologise for taking a shot. S*** happens.

'I'll take this loss like a man. I will not shy away from it. I will not change who I am. If another champion goes up two weights let me know.'

McGregor had previously only fought at featherweight for the promotion but agreed to face Diaz at 170lb, a considerable increase of 25lb.

After a dominant first round, he was rocked by a left hand and soon submitted to a rear-naked choke.

But McGregor vowed he was going nowhere as he considers a return to 145lb at UFC 200 this summer.

'If you're tired of me talking money, take a nap,' he continued. 'I'll still be here when you wake up with the highest PPV and the gate. Still talking multi sevens.

'Thank you to the true support and f*** the hate that came out of the woodwork. I love it all. It's still steak for breakfast. 'I've been here many times in my life in some form or another. I'll eat it all and come back stronger. '

McGregor had been due to face lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos before he was sidelined with a broken foot.

He also had message for him and his fellow Brazilian Aldo who he knocked out inside 13 seconds last December.

'Aldo you are a p****. Dos Anjos you are a p****,' he said. 'When the history books are written, I showed up. You showed up on Twitter.

'To the fans, never ever shy away from challenges. Never run from adversity. Face yourself head on.

'Nate, I will see you again.'

In the immediate aftermath of his failed Las Vegas gamble, McGregor had said: 'I make no excuses. This is what it is. I came up short. He went into autopilot and I went into panic mode.

'There's many lessons to be learned but I'm happy that I will learn and grow and come back.'
