EXCLUSIVE: Superstar filly Zenyatta in line for dream date with See The Stars

Trainer John Shirreffs will recommend that brilliant American filly Zenyatta is sent to last year’s all-conquering Irish colt Sea The Stars when her racing career finishes this season.

While Ascot’s ambitious attempt to woo her to their Royal meeting in June is doomed, the chances of her following Arc winner Zarkava to a mating with the colt, who won six Group Ones last season when trained by John Oxx, are much better.

Shirreffs said last night: ‘Royal Ascot has never been discussed but I would love her to go to Sea The Stars. That’s the choice I think the owners should take and I would recommend.’

The trainer said it was not set in stone that the Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs on June 12 would be Zarkava’s next goal as she bids for her 17th successive win.

Philip Robinson has delayed his return to the saddle for another few weeks.

The Newmarket-based rider had hoped to be back in action at today’s Craven meeting after having hip resurfacing and replacement, but he said: ‘I want to know I can do the job 100 per cent before I start and at the moment I am not ready for that. I’ll see how it goes.

‘I told (trainer) Michael Jarvis I want to up my workload in the mornings and get it stronger.’

Godolphin's new trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni saddles his first British runner when Black  Snowflake lines up in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket today.

Mark Johnston’s 2,000 Guineas fancy Awzaan will gallop on the course before racing.
