The San Francisco Police Department will be out in force tonight with roving DUI patrols in an attempt to rid the streets of drunk drivers on St. Patrick's Day. The patrols will operate in many unnamed communities — so beware, buzzed people.
"St. Patrick's Day brings to mind shamrocks, leprechauns, pots of gold, and good luck. But no amount of luck can save you from a drunk-driving crash," says Officer Albie Esparza.

Though it may come as a buzzkill, DUI-related stats are staggering. According to SFPD, 31 people died in drunk driving crashes on St. Patty's Day in 2013 across the state. Between 2009 to 2013, there were 276 drunk-driving fatalities on St. Patty's Day.

There is no pot of gold in prison.
