Looking Divine Ms M! Bette Midler hits back at Kim Kardashian by posting a 'naked' selfie and asking fans to donate to charity 

She has been engulfed in a social media storm after mocking Kim Kardashian for posting yet another naked selfie.

And entertainer Bette Midler struck back yet again by uploading her own comedy version of a nude portrait onto social media and using it as a tool to raise money for charity on Wednesday.

The Divine Miss M lived up to her moniker in the digitally manipulated mock-up image, which she posted on her Twitter page.

Bette, 70, is seemingly standing in lingerie in her bedroom, while holding a cardboard sign asking everyone, including her reality television personality rival, to get involved in a charity drive.

The funnywoman said: '@KimKardashian Put your selfie to work...for a good cause! Donate, RT, I'll match $$ 2-1!'

The singer, songwriter, comedienne and actress had launched another comedic blow at her former friend's figuratively glass jaw.

She said: '@KimKardashian wants me to send her my nudes! I'll send them right over but the lighting's bad right now since she threw all that shade!'

It comes after Kylie Jenner decided to show her support for her relatively talentless sister and style idol in her own inimitable fashion.

The 18-year-old shared an Instagram snap on Wednesday that was almost an exact replica of her sister's controversial nude snap... almost.

While the mother-of-two's selfie was completely naked - with just two black censor bars concealing her modesty - Kylie played it a bit safer with a black two-piece bikini. 

Her boob tube did almost the exact same job as Kim's redaction, however. 

Both women stare seductively into their iPhones as they capture themselves in their bathroom mirrors, although Kim had the foresight to tidy hers up a little first.

There can be no doubt which one is the master and which one is the apprentice when it comes to selfies, as Kim's expertly chosen angle deny any peeking toilet bowls or dirty towels.

Kylie's message however was undeniable: she supports her big sister's right to flash her impressive body however and whenever she sees fit. 

Kim's flashback bathroom photo session kicked off yet another social media fracas about the duties of famous women as role models.

Kylie was one of the first to defend her on Twitter, labeling her 'a legend' and telling the haters to 'walk with someone everyday before you judge them', before retweeting the offending pic

Kim found herself on the end of a number of barbs, probably most surprisingly from Bette Midler, who tweeted: 'If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera.'

Chloe Grace Moretz was a bit more diplomatic, tweeting: '@KimKardashian I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.' 

Kim responded: 'hey @BetteMidler I know it's past your bedtime but if you're still up and reading this send nudes #justkidding'.

She then added: 'hey @BetteMidler I really didn't want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me #dejavu'. 

Kim also hit out at 19-year-old Moretz, writing: 'let's all welcome to twitter, since no one knows who she is. your nylon cover is cute boo'.

She then bragged about how much money she's bagged: 'sorry I'm late to the party guys I was busy cashing my 80 million video game check & transferring 53 million into our joint account'.

Kim then ended her rant by tweeting another nude image, with the simple message: ''liberated'.

After that it was like Captain America Civil War as celebs lined up on each side of the divide.

Kanye West of course had his wife's back, retweeting her pic and calling her his 'muse'. 

Sharon Osbourne posted yet another similar selfie herself, showing off her rather impressive 63-year-old body, writing that Kim 'inspired me'.
