Her net worth is reportedly a whopping £8.5million.

Yet Cara Delevingne appeared to be void of loose change after she was spied dodging a beggar outside Gare du Nord railway station in Paris on Saturday afternoon.

The 23-year-old supermodel appeared uncomfortable as she chatted on her phone while heading into the station to return to her native London.

Cara was dressed in her favoured sports luxe look in a navy and white bomber jacket with trendy loose-fitting checked trousers.

She wrapped a striped scarf around her head and went make-up free as she encountered the distressed-looking woman.

As she clutched her white iPhone to her face after stepping out of a chauffeur driven car, the model-turned-actress seemed flustered before she edged away from the vying woman.

After a brief conversation, the Suicide Squad star managed to skirt around her and began to head into the station to continue her outward journey.

The Gare du Nord station is renowned for its problem with beggars and pickpockets and travellers are urged to exercise extreme caution within the building and its surroundings.

In recent years Romanian police have been brought into the station to help the police in the French capital to deal with gangs of Roma teenagers who have been harassing travellers.

Her outing came after Cara penned a very and honest essay about the struggles she faced as a model in her younger years, in Motto, a Time magazine offshoot.

The star confessed one of the hardest things about being a model was being 'accepted' by those in the same field, and that she 'needed validation from everyone', something she has now put behind her.

Having started modelling at the age of 16, she found it difficult to break through to others and, when she did find success, it was still difficult.

Putting her feelings into words, she wrote: 'It took a while before I had stability in the business. I worked hard to be accepted by the fashion community in ways beyond my physical appearance. In no time, though, I found myself surrendering to the industry's approval process.

'I felt like I needed validation from everyone. As a result, I lost sight of myself and what it meant to be happy, what it meant to be successful. I think it all stemmed from a deep-down feeling of wanting people to like me and love me.'

She also went on to admit that she was never really happy as a model, due to these huge expectations she put on herself.

'Over time, I came to realize that work and getting others' approval isn't the most important thing. Yes, your career is very important—but it's not the most important,' she added. 'Of course I was proud of my accomplishments, but I wasn't genuinely happy.'

To outsiders, it seemed that Cara - a notoriously hilarious goofball, known for her funny faces and chilled-out demeanour - was living the happiest of lives.

But Cara's words won't come as a shock to her most devoted of admirers, who have seen her shrink away from the limelight in recent months after giving up walking catwalks and posing in photoshoots.
