Cheryl Cole adopts the GaGa look in a high-cut leotard as Girls Aloud up the raunch factor

Cheryl Cole upped the ante for fans at Girls Aloud Sheffield shows.

Taking a style cue from raunchy singer Lady GaGa, Cheryl took to the stage in a futuristic leotard and mini skirt combo which owed more than a nod to the crazy looks seen on pop singer Lady GaGa.

With its exaggerated gem-studded shoulders and stiff skirt, the high-fashion look was a style departure for Cheryl and co, who seem determined to surge ahead of the pop pack in the raunch stakes.

The girls looked heavenly as they appeared on stage in Manchester, Sheffied and last night at London's O2 Arena in long silver dresses and gloves.

But it didn't take long before Cheryl, Sarah, Nadine and Nicola peeled off to reveal sexy cutaway black and white themed leotards, much to the fans' delight.

But while Cheryl's bandmates opted for flesh baring high-cut leotards, the Geordie singer opted for the predominantly white GaGa style outfit which made her stand out from her scantily-clad colleagues.

The girls worked their way through a number of their hits including Fix Me Up? and Something Kinda Ooh, as well as a rendition of the Britney Spears song Womanizer.

Sarah, in particular, rocked around the stage, swinging her blonde locks from side to side and of course grabbing the occasional male backing dancer to cavort with.

But the girls have revealed that their dance routines for the Out Of Control tour has left them black and blue.

Last night, Sarah showed off a tangerine-sized bruise on her arm and said: 'I'm not going to be able to hide that, am I.

Racy: The girls looked stunning in black ensembles later in the show

'It's full on from the first song, we decided to really go for it. God knows what we'll look like by the end of the tour.'

The girls will play a total of 30 dates after kicking off proceedings in Manchester on Friday. And played Sheffield the following day, with just a day's rest before they hit London's O2 Arena.

They play the O2 again on May 23 and 24 and then Wembley Arena on May 26 and 27.

On a pedestal: Cheryl Cole (l) and Sarah Harding (r) appeared on podiums wearing angelic dresses at Manchester's MEN Arena last night

Reviewing last night's performance in the London Evening Standard, John Aizlewood described it as a 'relentless jackhammer of a show'.

This despite a stage malfunction when a hydraulic platform failure at the start of The Promise left Cheryl singing from nine feet below her elevated bandmates.

They recovered with the aplomb of a team who have had five albums when they were not expected to last five minutes and sent their fans home thrilled, surprised and happy.

No angels: The girls soon ripped off their long skirts to reveal raunchy mini dresses underneath
