- Kuldeep Singh, 58, was sliced two to three times at the Washington store
- His 60-year-old regular customer then shot the attacker dead with a pistol
- The suspect was in his 40s and did not say a word or ask for money
- He swung once at the customer before turning his attention on the clerk
An early morning at a Washington 7-Eleven almost turned tragic when a masked man with an ax came charging through the door and started swinging without a word.
But just as he managed to slice the clerk in the stomach, a 60-year-old customer who was having a cup of coffee pulled out his gun and shot the attacker dead at the Burien store.
Kuldeep Singh, 58, believes he would have died had it not been for his regular customer, who had a concealed carry permit for his pistol and is being called a hero by police.

The customer has not been named by authorities, who said he was too shaken after the incident to speak to the media.
'Had this customer not shot, who knows what would've happened,' King County Sheriff's Sgt Cindi West told KIRO 7.
'We might have a dead clerk right now and instead we have a dead bad guy.'
Authorities said the man also swung his ax at the customer, who was sitting at a chair near the register but did not injure him.

Police responded to the shooting at the Burien store at 5.45am on Sunday.
King County Medics attempted to resuscitate the suspect but he was pronounced dead at the scene, West told Daily Mail Online.
The suspect's identity is expected to be released by Monday afternoon after being examined by the King County Medical Examiner.
A motive for the attack remains unknown. West said the attacker, who has not been identified and is believed to be in his 40s, did not ask for money before he began swinging the weapon.
Authorities said charges are not expected to be filed against the Good Samaritan - but the case will be reviewed by the King County Prosecutor's office.
'We do not see any wrongdoing on the part of the customer,' said West.
'In fact, he probably saved lives.'
