Mind-blowing video shows skiing base jumpers hurtle off cliff before performing stunts in mid-air and parachuting to safety

If you are afraid of heights, look away now.

This stomach-churning drone footage shows daredevil base jumpers leaping off mountains after skiing down snow-covered slopes near Teton Village, Wyoming.

The six athletes were joined by two paragliders as they hurtled off the cliff one after each other, performing heart-stopping somersaults in free-fall before deploying their parachutes.

The display was captured by Tim Swartz, from Higher Expectation Productions, who shot the video with the team over two days at the end of February.

The group spent the first day of the project clearing a path down the mountain so that the base jumpers had a safe route to their exit point from the mountain.

'Any kind of crash or trip-up while approaching the cliff at high speed would be disastrous,' Mr Swartz explained.

The slickly-produced clip starts with the first of the six base jumpers speeding down the slope. As he makes his way towards the jump point, a red paraglider can be seen in the air above him.

The base jumpers perform their tricks mid-air but are dwarfed against the sweeping landscape. Moments later they deploy their parachutes and descend to the forest hundreds of metres below.

Mr Swartz said: 'Seeing it come together from a rocky no man's land on the edge of a massive cliff to a perfectly manicured path for the jumpers to exit on.

'After the construction, many of the locals found out about what we were doing and came out to watch from all over the valley.

'Any time someone jumped you could hear cheers coming from all over the place. Those guys put on a hell of a show.'

The ski base jumpers included Marshall Miller, Jesse Hall, Tyler Burrows, Hartman Rector, Heath Ordway and Mike Bickley. They were joined by speed flyers called Tyler Horne and Jonas Marcinko.

Mr Swartz added: 'Most of the guys are from out of town with the exception of me, Tyler Horne, and Mike Bickley.

'We had a stretch of nice weather coming up and Marshall contacted Tyler about current snow conditions at the jump site.

'We checked it out, sent him a picture of the cliff, and he rallied the rest of the crew to drive up here and make it happen.'
