'God bless you and the dogs': Girl, 11, sends heartbreaking note to police and donates her allowance so K9s can get bulletproof vests after Jethro was killed in the line of duty

An Ohio police department received a letter from a young girl, who gave away her allowance so K9s could receive bulletproof vests.

The letter from eleven-year-old Allison to the Canton Police Department in Canton said: 'Dear Police department,

'I sorry about Jethro. So here is my allowance for the bullet proof vests.

'God bless you and the dogs.' The letter was signed 'Sincerely, Allison.'

In January 2016, K9 Jethro was shot numerous times during a robbery and later died, DailyMail.com reported at the time.

Officer Eric Stanbro told ABC News: 'Officer Davis has received 2,000 letters since Jethro's death, and he was catching up with them over the weekend.

'He came across this girl's letter and donation, and it really touched him.'

Stanbro told ABC News Allison donated several dollars.

He told the website the K9s are being measured so they can get the vests.

Allison's letter was shared on the Facebook pages for both the Massillon Police Department and Ohio Going Blue.

Ohio Going Blue wrote on Facebook Saturday that Davis said on his own Facebook profile: 'So we finally got a chance to look through some of the cards and letters received for Jethro!

'How does something like this not rip your heart out?

'Unfortunately it was removed from its original envelope so I can't even send this little angel a Thank You!

'This is one of many but obviously one of the most emotional!!!

'Thank You Allison! And everyone who has supported us! God Bless You!'

Ohio Going Blue wrote on Facebook Sunday: 'Allison and her Mom have been found and will be in contact with Officer Davis soon!!'
