Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has said he will always wish he had achieved more when he finally says goodbye to football.

Gerrard, who won 114 caps for England and won the Champions League, UEFA Cup and FA Cup with Liverpool believes he achieved some 'incredible things' in his career.

But the 35-year-old, who has just started his second season at LA Galaxy, has revealed he has a childish streak that will always leave him unsatisfied and wishing he had won more in his career.

'You look back at the highs and the lows,' Gerrard told the Telegraph. 'I always recognise that I achieved some incredible things.

'But I also reflect on some of the lows and wish that they were different, that I had achieved a little more.

'I don't think I'll ever be at peace. When it comes to football, I'm quite hungry, quite selfish. I want more than perhaps I can have.'

Gerrard's defining moment in a Liverpool shirt was his key role in dragging Liverpool to an unlikely Champions League trophy in 2005, scoring crucial goals along the way as well as starring as the Reds overcame a 3-0 half-time deficit against AC Milan in the famous Istanbul final.

STEVEN GERRARD: HONOURS

Champions League: 1 (2005)

UEFA Cup: 1 (2001)

UEFA Super Cup: 1 (2001)

FA Cup: 2 (2001, 2006)

League Cup: 3 (2001, 2003, 2012)

Other highlights among his more than 700 Liverpool appearances included a dramatic injury-time equaliser to help claim the FA Cup in 2006.

But Gerrard never lifted the Premier League trophy despite 17 seasons in England's top flight.

'Maybe I'm a bit like a kid, a bit immature, when it comes down to that,' Gerrard added. 'I wish I was sitting here with an extra 10 medals.'

Gerrard will be hoping he can guide LA Galaxy to a record sixth MLS Cup this season, after getting their campaign off to a good start with a 4-1 win over DC United.
