'There's a lot of changes': Jessa Duggar and husband Ben get used to life with a baby... while Jill and Derrick adjust to being missionaries in new TLC reality series

The Duggars returned to televsion Tuesday with the season premiere of their new TLC reality series Jill And Jessa: Counting On.

The episode focused primarily on how new parents Jessa and Ben Seewald are adjusting to life with baby son Spurgeon.

'Transitioning from a family of two to a family of three, there's a lot of changes,' Ben, 20, said. 'It's caused me to go out of my comfort zone a little more. Yeah, it's good for me.'

The baby boy was born shortly after the couple's first wedding anniversary last November.

'Having a kid of my own is the most amazing thing ever. It's totally changed my life,' Jessa, 23, said.

She was seen breastfeeding her baby, who is named after a Victorian preacher, and coming to grips with her new role and the demands it makes on her time.

'Having a kid is an amazing thing': Jessa explained that finding time to do anything other than care for her infant son, whom she is breastfeeding, was a challenge

Ben and Jessa live in a small house close to her parents Jim Bob and Michelle's large home in Arkansas.

And the new parents were invited to host the extended family's annual fall feast.

It transpired it was something of a daunting task for Jessa, who acknowledged that not only had she never pulled together a big family meal before; she also only cooks for her and Ben a couple of times a month.

'I never really did a whole lot of cooking,' she said. 'Since I've gotten married, a couple of times a month I'll, like, cook a meal. Most of the time we eat eggs, yogurt, snack...'

However, help was on hand from her sisters Jinger, Jana and Joy.

The four headed off  to a local market to stock up on supplies.

Jessa was keen to buy as much pre-made food as possible for the feast and Jinger agreed.

'It would be too much to do everything homemade,' Jinger said.

Food run: On the must-have list were six family size bags of frozen corn kernels, as well as bread rolls, pumpkin cheesecake and two turkeys

In addition to picking up a couple of frozen turkeys, the girls purchased pre-baked rolls, frozen corn, pumpkin cheesecake and lots of butter.

Johannah is delegated to be in charge of rustling up a green bean casserole while Joy is persuaded to try her hand at mashed potatoes.

With all the girls joining in together, the feast is made and served up on time to their brothers, younger siblings, parents and grandmother.

Meanwhile, Jill Duggar and husband Derick Dillard join in the celebration via video chat from Central America where they are serving as missionaries.

They were seen in a brief segment where Jill, 24, gave the cameras a tour of their small house and talked about how Derick, 27, is preaching twice a week.

Their son Israel, who turns one next month, is crawling and starting to walk and the couple said they had to start baby proofing their home.

Anna Duggar, the wife of eldest Duggar offspring Josh, joined the get together after making her first trip to see her husband since he entered faith-based rehab three months earlier.

Josh was undergoing treatment in Illinois after admitting he had cheated on his wife, the mother of his four children, had been a member of the Ashley Madison website and was addicted to porn.

Her visit with Josh, who it was also revealed last year had molested several of his sisters when he was a teen, took place off-camera.

Off on visit: Anna Duggar, whose husband Josh was revealed to be an adulterer and porn addict last summer, was seen packing for a trip to see him for the first time since he entered a residential treatment program

But when she got back, she was eager to let his siblings and parents know that he is 'just really grateful for a family that's willing to talk straight and to grieve when you've fallen, but also to love and forgive and have hope.'

'So I look forward to seeing what God has in the future,' she said with tears in her eyes.

Anna explained that the situation is deepening her faith.

'God's grace can give me the strength to love Josh when others would say he doesn't deserve it,' she said.

Jill And Jessa: Counting on airs at 9 p.m. Tuesdays on TLC.
