From baby belly to six pack in less than SIX MONTHS! Dramatic transformation of new mom who gained incredible abs after losing 30lbs of baby weight

  • US-based Instagrammer Sarah Carr, 29, shares her fitness progress online
  • After giving birth to her first child in 2013, she decided to get in shape
  • She lost more than 50lbs from her highest pregnancy weight — and then maintained her fitness regimen through her second pregnancy
  • After giving birth, she lost 10lbs in a week, and went on to drop from 178lbs at 40 weeks to 148lbs five months later

While a few fitness fanatics have made headlines lately for maintaining a six-pack throughout their pregnancy, that kind of work-out dedication isn't exactly practical for most people — even gym rats.

But one Instagram fitness star is proving that it is possible to stay in good shape while you're expecting, and even snap back to your pre-baby body in a matter of months.

US-based Instagrammer Sarah Carr, 29, hit the gym throughout her pregnancy, and has gone on to document her postpartum fitness progress (under the handle @babybelly_to_sixpack), since she gave birth six month ago.

Though Sarah worked out during her first pregnancy, she was slacking by the third trimester — and told Daily Mail Online that she 'took the "eating for two" concept very literally', going on to gain 55lbs by the time she gave birth in September of 2013.

'I was miserable at the end of my pregnancy. My ankles were swollen, face swollen, hands swollen, I waddled andevery part of me was uncomfortable!' she said.

So after she gave birth, she started working to shed the pounds, eventually dropping from 196lbs (during pregnancy) to 145lbs. But she wasn't just losing weight — she showed followers how she worked on 'getting a little definition', too, building up muscles in her arms and legs.

When she found out she was expecting her second, she wasn't about to slack at the gym again. Rather, she doubled down on documenting her progress, sharing photos of healthy meals, lists detailing her workout routines, and videos of her lifting at the gym.

'I wanted to share my story with other women to inspire them to maintain a fit pregnancy and show the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through pregnancy and postpartum,' she said. 'So many woman think they must give up their "sexy" body when they become pregnant and that they will never have a nice body again. I'm here to show them that isn't true.'

She further makes that point on Instagram, telling her followers at 35 weeks: 'Preggo mamas: try to incorporate a core workout into your weekly routine to build your stomach muscles under that #babybelly. I didn't do this last pregnancy and had a hard time losing the baby pooch.'

The fit mama clearly hopes to inspire other women to follow in her path, and also posts encouraging quotes along the lines of: 'Surround yourself with those who challenge you, push you, and motivate you.'

'My hubby motivates me, in the gym and in life,' she explained. Her husband also appears on her account, and has lost weight alongside her.

Followers have watched the svelte mother working out at her home gym, her belly slowly growing as she continued to do squats, lunges, and push-ups almost every day. She lifted weights, too, and also ran around her neighborhood.

She's even used lunch breaks at work to exercise in the conference room, when she knows she won't have time when she gets home. And she's not afraid to show off her progress, either, flexing her muscles and taking photos of her heart rate monitor.

'I felt great, my body felt great,' she told Daily Mail Online. 'I gained 35lbs but it was mostly in my belly. I didn't swell up or feel miserable and had an amazing pregnancy.'

But it wasn't just about working out. The muscular mom also planned out her meals in advance every week, removing some of temptation to order takeout or cave to unhealthy snacks.

She shares pictures of her salads, grilled chicken and veggies, yogurt, and little baggies filled with nuts, granola, or fruit.

All of those healthy lifestyle changes meant that she saw a major difference between her first pregnancy and her second.

'My body is sooooo different than last time! SO much more energy, no swollen body parts, and in a much better mood!' she said at 28 weeks. 'Continuing a fit pregnancy was not easy!! It's so hard during the first trimester but don't get discouraged! I didn't exercise at all and didn't eat great until I felt better at 11 weeks, around the second trimester.'

Giving birth in August 2015 was a better experience, too. She explained: 'I was shocked at how much easier labor was because I had core strength to push out the baby. It was incredible.'

Then, when it came time to lose the baby weight, the pounds seemed to melt off.  Having weighed 178lbs at 40 weeks along, she was down to 158lbs just a week after delivery.

'I'm amazed at how quickly my body is going back to "normal",' she wrote on Instagram, adding to Daily Mail Online: 'I lost 20 lbs of baby weight the week after I had him.'

After about a week of recovery, she started exercising again, and by eight weeks postpartum she was down to 152.9lbs. By five months postpartum, she weighed just 148lbs. And at the six-month mark, she was flaunting her abs again.

'Now, six months postpartum, I'm at my pre-pregnancy weight and am probably healthier and more muscular than I've ever been,' she said.

And the mother-of-two wants other moms to know that they can whip themselves into shape after pregnancy, too, even if they're breastfeeding.

'There is no such thing as a "mom body",' she said. 'You can have your dream body, even after kids. It just takes hard work and dedication.'
