Tarzan's jungle adventures have been adapted many times for the big screen.

And The Legend Of Tarzan, David Yates' live action re-imagining of the classic tale, looks set to be an adventure of epic proportions if the newly-released trailer is anything to go by.

Alexander Skarsgård strips off for epic battle scenes to play the titular hero in the action-packed teaser, starring Margot Robbie as his wife Jane.

The film is set in the years since since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton, Lord Greystoke,with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side.

David Yates, who directed the final four Harry Potter, has helmed The Legend of Tarzan from a screenplay by Adam Cozad and Craig Brewer, story by Brewer and Cozad based on he Tarzan stories created by Burroughs.

Jerry Weintraub (Behind the Candelabra) produced the film, together with David Barron (Cinderella), Alan Riche (Southpaw) and Tony Ludwig (Starsky & Hutch).

The Legend Of Tarzan is released on July 1 in the US, and July 8 in the UK.
