It has been quite a week for Kingsley Coman. After notching up three assists against Werder Bremen on Saturday, the Frenchman then sparked Bayern Munich's stunning comeback against Juventus on Wednesday night.

Coming on as a substitute after 60 minutes, the 19 year-old Frenchman electrified the Allianz Arena and put the Italian champions to the sword.

From the moment Coman ran onto the pitch, Bayern were endowed with a new dynamism. Douglas Costa, who had been running hard but ineffectively all night, suddenly started finding real space. The Juventus defence, so rigid for the first hour, slowly began to look strained.

The Italians held on, however, until the 91st minute, when Thomas Muller headed in a dramatic equaliser. The assist-provider? None other than a young Frenchman who Juventus had loaned out to Bayern last summer. Kingsley Coman.

Many in Munich were underwhelmed when Bayern spent €7m to loan out a young, French winger last summer. Coman was keen to prove them wrong. At his official presentation, he insisted that he would prove his worth.

'I am a player who can make a difference, in every single minute of the game,' he said.

He started with a bang, grabbing two goals and two assists in his first three league starts for Bayern. Even for the greatest of cynics, it was clear that Coman, at the very least, was a high quality back-up for the oft-injured likes of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

In the last week, he has proven beyond any doubt that he is far more than just a super-sub. Coman traumatised Bremen left-back Santiago Garcia at the weekend, prompting a wave of praise from his colleagues.

'It's definitely a successful transfer,' said Bayern chief-executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, 'He's a great lad, and he's making us very happy.'

'He is playing brilliantly,' said coach Pep Guardiola, 'he really showed his quality with three assists today'.

Having humiliated Bremen, Coman drained the last drops of resistance out of Juventus on Wednesday. He even cemented their capitulation with a goal of his own, whipping the ball past former team mate Gianluigi Buffon for Bayern's fourth.

With both Robben and Ribery approaching their mid-thirties, Bayern have found a worthy successor in Coman. Juventus, meanwhile, must be wondering how they let him slip away. Once his loan deal expires in 2017, Bayern have the option to buy Coman outright for just £16m.

It is a deal which already looks set in stone. Back in December, Coman was already stating his desire for a long career at the Allianz Arena.

'The plan was never to just come for two years and go again,' he said, 'I came to stay as long as possible. Why shouldn't I stay at the club as long as Ribery has? That would be great.'

Bayern have a new hero. A young Frenchman with formidable pace and a gift for crossing. A signing which many thought to be superfluous back in the summer.

But Kingsley Coman has proved them wrong. He is, as he promised, a player who can make a difference.

GENERATION ANCELOTTI

Kingsley Coman looks set to to stay at Bayern for the forseeable future, and he will be at the heart of a new generation that looks set to emerge under Pep Guardiola's successor Carlo Ancelotti.

20-year-old Joshua Kimmich has enjoyed a meteoric rise since the beginning of the season. A central midfielder by trade, Kimmich has had to fill in as a centre-back in recent weeks, and has done brilliantly in the circumstances. His calm on the ball make him the perfect candidate to fill the boots of Philipp Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg may also figure in Ancelotti's generation. Hojbjerg, initially a protege of Guardiola's, is currently enduring an uninspiring loan spell at Schalke, after playing impressively for Augsburg last season. Unlike other youngsters such as Sinan Kurt and Mitchell Weiser, Bayern have refused to sell Hojbjerg, and the Dane would seem to be in the club's long term plan.

Lucas Scholl is another of Bayern's promising midfield talents. The son of Bayern and Germany legend Mehmet Scholl, the 19-year-old has made only a handful of first team appearances.
