A Los Angeles electrician working on what will be the tallest building on the West Coast fell 53 floors to his death on Thursday - during what was only his second day on the job. The man, who has not been named pending family notification, was working on the unfinished, $1billion Wilshire Grand Center when he fell off the building at around noon, plummeting 800 feet and hitting the trunk of a car that was passing below. The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital for examination. 'She is not injured,' LA Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart told The LA Times, 'She is scared.'

Amira Behari, who was at the heart of a German racism trial, finally agreed to lift her niqab to show her face to a Munich judge. It comes after she was threatened with jail time for initially refusing to reveal her face at an original hearing in November. The judge then concluded he had no choice but to acquit the defendant accused of shouting abuse at Ms Behari - sparking protest in Germany and leading to today's retrial. But despite Ms Behari's decision to show her face, today's judge also sided with the defendant and again acquitted him.

A driverless Corvette struck and injured a pedestrian woman on Thursday after she purchased lunch not far from the St Patrick's Day Parade in Midtown Manhattan, officials said. The woman had reportedly just come out of salad store Chop't when the car's automatic starter malfunctioned and lunged out of a parking garage, plowing into her around 1.15pm. She was rescued by a group of witnesses before she was treated at the scene. The owner speculates the parking attendants did not put the emergency brakes on and instead had the car in neutral.

Investigators probing the deaths of Scott and Nicole Westerhuis and their four children in South Dakota last year say they tried to hide illegal activity which saw them steal $1million from a children's fund. Three other people associated with Mid-Central Educational Co-operative and the GEAR UP college-readiness grant program are also facing felony charges stemming from the probe. The Westerhuis family died just hours after the state informed Mid-Central that it was losing a $4.3million federal contract for GEAR UP because of financial problems and accounting failures.

More than two decades after she reported her 5-year-old son missing from a carnival in New Jersey, a woman investigators say they long considered a suspect is on trial for his murder - the boy's mother, Michelle Lodzinski (right). A former baby sitter and the boy's cousin testified Thursday that she is certain that a blanket found near the remains of a 5-year-old New Jersey boy nearly 25 years ago came from his house. Danielle Gerding testified that she saw the blanket (left) in Timothy Wiltsey's (inset) home when she babysat for him. The blanket is a key piece of evidence in the prosecution's murder case against Timothy's mother, Lodzinski.

This is the first time the Nirvana frontman's gun has been shown to the public. Cobain was found dead with a shotgun blast to the head on April 5, 1994. Conspiracy theories surrounding his death have long claimed the shotgun had been melted down to hide evidence of a murder and cover-up by police. The shotgun pictures come two years after police released images from the scene of Cobain's death. A 2014 re-examination of the evidence found that the SPD correctly ruled that Cobain's manner of death was suicide.

Andrea Dusha, 26, and Michael Wright Jr., 32, left their toddler Lydia in a car seat for 13 hours outside their Uniontown home, in Pennsylvania, court documents reveal. An autopsy later determined Lydia died of dehydration and malnutrition as they ruled the youngster's death a homicide. The medical examiner discovered Lydia weighed just 10lbs when she died. A healthy two-year-old should weigh anywhere between 28 and 30lbs.

The scary incident occurred at a store in Arvada and the worker, Rebecca Montano, said she could tell by the look on the customer's face that something was not right. 'I'm a mother, I'm a grandmother. It's motherly instinct to worry about children,' Montano told KWGN. After grabbing the child (top right), the woman looked to the ceiling and collapsed on the counter (bottom left), before falling to the ground (bottom right), where she started seizing. Montano was able to quickly call 911 and paramedics arrived at the scene to help.

A video has emerged of a naked woman walking along a motorway during rush hour. However the footage, filmed in Russia, has sparked a backlash on social media with many criticising passing motorists for a 'lack of compassion' and for not helping her. Images shared by a passenger in a passing car show the woman walking in the middle of the road and trying to cover her breasts with her hands. In the 30 second clip, the woman can be seen looking distressed as she walks between two lanes of slow-moving traffic which continues to drive past her. However nobody stopped to help, instead choosing to video her on their phones as they passed.

The man, who was sitting on the front of the cart, was forced to put his whole wait into pulling the donkey back when it started walking towards the level crossing in Egypt (pictured main).
