Downcast and tired Madonna arrives at Brisbane stadium at 5.30pm... so just what was she doing for the SIX hours before going on stage late and angering fans?

If a face can tell a thousand words, Madonna's said it all on Wednesday when she finally turned up hours late ahead of her Brisbane concert.

Appearing exhausted, the 57-year-old songstress sauntered into the Entertainment Centre through a side door, head bowed, looking decided downcast at 5.30pm - six hours before she burst onto the stage.

With tired eyes and seemingly without any makeup, she arrived clutching a protein shake bottle and mobile phone hours before baying fans walked out demanding refunds and to know where she was.

The American singer shuffled into the Queensland concert venue ahead of her Rebel Heart Tour show that finally erupted on stage at 11.22pm.

Over the past few months, she has outraged fans for turning up to her concerts extremely late.

And despite the endless backlash, in time honoured fashion, Madonna once again kept loyal followers in Brisbane waiting as they did the Mexican wave and shuffled restlessly in their seats.

Concert goers were a little appeased when they were told the songstress would finally appear on stage at 10.30pm, but they were then left waiting longer as she finally performed at 11.22pm.

Fans took to their social media sites to express their annoyance and vent their frustration, with one calling her an 'inconsiderate diva'.

'It doesn't make you more of a rock star to be late to your own concert,' one Tweeted. 'It makes you an inconsiderate diva.

‘I could have seen #LadyInTheVan in the time I will spend waiting for #Madonna to show up to #RebelHeartTour which would have been great.’

‘Madonna not getting on the Boondall stage until at least 10:30pm...,’ said another. ‘I am 'this close' to selling my ticket for tomorrow night. Too old 4 this.'

Although several fans of the star were angry, some jumped to Madonna’s defence.

An audience member remarked: ‘They announced @Madonna won't be on before 10:30. I don't f****** care I've waited 23 years what's a few hours more. #myqueen #madonna.’

Her ‘chaotic’ appearance at the Rod Laver Arena included an emotional plea to the crowd, begging, 'Somebody take care of me please. Who is going to take care of me?'

After falling off a tricycle, she told her fans she had 'messed up' her songs, before joking: 'You would think it was in my DNA,' according to The Sun.

Madonna seemed visibly affected by Rocco's decision to live with his father Guy in London.

She reportedly said: 'If I have learnt one thing in my life, it's just to go with it. If you just laugh it doesn't hurt as much.'
